Agriturismo La Baita
Reviewed July 17, 2013

This agriturismo is wonderful and we would absolutely return again. It was beautifully kept and clean. The views are breathtaking and our 4 year old and 2 year old had a blast playing in the garden area and watching the chickens/ducks/peacock. We were expecting to eat all our meals out when we were exploring the coast but after one lunch we ate every meal at the La Baita restaurant. The food is superb and I doubt we could have ever found better. I think this place is the complete package: it is high up so nice and cool, far away from all the tourists yet close enough to the town of Amalfi (40 min. private bus ride- 2.50 euros each way) to go exploring the coast if you want, it is very close to many amazing hiking trails (we went on one and never even used the car it was so close to the agriturismo) and you get to eat amazing, Italian food prepared fresh from seasonal, locally grown ingredients. The family was very hospitable. We cannot wait to return!

if stopping off at this restaurant was not on your agenda, I strongly recommend you put it there. La Baita is a true gem of a find, from the moment we arrived you could sense the passion the family have put into creating this very special place. The produce all sourced locally and with much home grown is exceptional and as authentic as you will find in the region. The food whilst not complicated is so delicious. Everything cooked from the heart and with such enthusiasm that you can do nothing put have praise for it. You will certainly not go hungry here and I can assure you as full as you are you will find that little extra space to eat every morsel as it tastes how food should. After eating in all the top restaurants around the Amalfi coast my only regret that we were not told about La Baita earlier - Thank you Francesco at the Santa Caterina for suggesting we go.
3 things to note -
Park on the main road and walk up as the drive is narrow unless you have a mini - it's only a couple of minutes
Have cash - they do not take cards as yet (our meal for 2 was €70 euro for 4 courses including wine)
Book in advance

Room Tip: I did not stay here only ate in the restaurant but I would certainly think it was good and also safe...
