Easily the peak of our visit to Greece. Naxos Town itself is amazing. Despina's Rooms are perched at the top of the hill, right next to the Kastro. It is nestled into the blue and white jumble that is Naxos Town, but easy to find thanks to the arrows that mark almost every corner. It is very close to everything you will want to see in town. We joked that it never mattered what turn you took because every road led to Despina's.
The roof has a breathtaking view out towards the bay and Portara. During the summer, when the Kastro runs outdoor concerts, you can sit on the roof and hear them perfectly. We stayed on the roof rooms (there are three), which are smaller and more basic than the normal rooms, with two bathrooms to share between the three. No AC up on the roof, but a great breeze.
Everything was perfect, even the fellow visitors were charming (a beautiful German lady gave us peaches!) and Despina and Nina (her younger relative who runs the place) were so kind.
We were very sad we had to leave.
