We made a booking based on some of the earlier reviews here - a consitent theme about the high quality of the hosts' family was apparent. Sure enough, from the moment we got off the ferry, everything about our three days in Naxos was easy, relaxing and great. Kostas - who has the widest smile on the island - met us at the ferry terminal, drove us to the hotel, and settled us in with a wonderful introduction to sights, beaches, restaurants and other essential information. He's very easy going, has a warm and friendly demeanor, and made us feel right at home. Over the next three days, every interaction with Kostas and his family was consistent - warm, sincere, helpful.
The property is a little off the town center and beach, but honestly not by much. We walked to the waterfront promenade in Chora (the town area) in about ten minutes along a straight road that was well-lit in the evenings. The nearest beach (Saint George) takes between ten to fifteen minutes to walk to as well. There's a bus-stop just two minutes away, where you can take the bus to another beautiful beach (Aghios Prokopios).
Our room was renovated just last winter and looked amazing - clean, bright, tasteful, with modern bathroom facilities and a small balcony overlooking the neighbouring farm just in front of the property. There was air-conditioning, a hot shower, plenty of closet space, a comfortable bed, and plenty of lighting. It was kept very tidy. In addition, breakfast (love the cheese pies and homemade jam!) was provided, and so were beach towels!
Kostas' recommendations on food are spot on. He shared with us a list of places he and his family dine at; we visited four of them over three days, and they were all excellent.
Naxos is a very lovely destination with great beaches, good sights around the island, amazing scenary (espcially when you drive around the interior island), fresh and delicious food and pleasant weather. It is, in our opinion, far more interesting and fun than Santorini, which we were at just prior to Naxos. This is one of the most under-rated islands in Greece; if you do visit, we highly recommend Saint Vlassis!!
