“Superb stay at Naxos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

This hotel has a central location in the edge of the Naxos city. Close to the sea but walking distance to central parts of the city. The walking path can be along the central beach or backstreets. Very service oriented staff and management with a private sort of style. Restaurant is average, but you do not need to walk far to find other places for a meal.

Room Tip: Request seaview.

We booked this property through an agency and arrived early in May just as they were starting up for the season. The location is fairly good, just a few steps from the beach and a short walk up the beach into town. The resort grounds are very nice. Clean and well kept. The pool was a little on the cool side but refreshing. Our first morning was a little rough though as they had some plumbing problems and the three rooms our group were occupying were all flooded by water backing up from the showers. The staff was very quick to get things cleaned up and sorted out for us though and with no major harm done, a complimentary bottle of wine for each of us smoothed things over nicely.Lots of options for meals and snacks along the beachfront and in town, which is good because our experinece with dinner at the on-property restaurant was not good. Both the food and the service were poor. I hope they've improved because they were definitely trying hard and perhaps just needed some more partice with the season just beginning. Staff were all very freindly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

We arrived in Naxos without accoms and asked at the accommodation centre for a booking. Asked for a 'nice hotel with pool by the beach' and was quoted €80 inc breakfast.

Pool area was pretty - bar and pool were very nice and drinks were well priced. I liked the traditional Greek music being played. Location was great too - 2 minute walk to beach and 15 along beach to town. Common area was excellent - but too many kids around for my taste. Would be a good place to stay for a family.

The room, the price, and the breakfast is what made our stay less than great. Small room on ground floor that was 2 single beds pushed together. Breakfast was very basic, and some things were a bit stale.

I think the other rooms may have been better and if the price were lower my review might have been better as well. We were able to find nicer accoms at a better price online.

Very nice location, almost right on agios georgios beach which is beautIful. 10 minutes walk from the town, on the boardwalk which is very nice even at night. Nice pool but no sunbeds, only little chairs around the pool. Nice poolbar, they had a traditional greek band one night. The room was not verry clean, verry small shower, not so clean and no adequate shower curtain so there was water evrywhere. We stayed at astir of naxos also and it is more quiet but better value and very clean. I would go back to astir instead of alkyoni.

I had been to Naxos several times before but had never stayed at this location and was very pleased with what I found.

The Alkyoni Hotel is at the far end of St. George's beach which made it very peaceful and as such not surrounded or overlooked by other hotels and apartments which can be the case at the other end of the beach/bay. The location for us was perfect and the walk to and from the town centre of Naxos was about 20 minutes along the beach or up through the town. Not a hardship at all and I was very surprised by some previous comments on here complaining that the hotel was too far away from anything.

The hotel itself was just what we wanted and I would also say that their own website is very accurate and does not mislead at all. The photographs and descriptions more than reflect the reality of the hotel and it's location. The gardens and indeed all the public areas are very well taken care off. Our room (36) on the first floor had 2 balconies one (small) over looking the pool area and the other (larger) has a perfect uninterrupted sea view - great for sunset watching. The breakfasts were more than adequate but I suspect that during the height of the season you probably need to get there early to have the full choice. The pool area was mainly dominated by families with children but that wasn't really a problem for us as we preferred the beach and the sea. The staff were all very helpful and what additional services we used were fine.

Although the hotel does seem to be family orientated there were also plenty of people staying there without children which gave good balance.

We took our two teenage daughters and stayed for 7 nights at this perfect, low-key resort. Its location is quiet, right near the beach and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the center of town. We loved the breakfast and thought the Greek food at the hotel was excellent. The rooms were clean and the grounds were immaculately kept. I would highly recommend this hotel for a family. It’s fabulous!

My husband, our 20-year old daughter and I enjoyed our 4-night stay here. Although the room (breakfast included) was average and the bathroom a little small, it included a private patio on the quiet side of the hotel. The hotel's amenities (large, clean pool), good restaurant, bar, 3-minute walk to beach) were very nice. It was a pleasant 20-minute walk along the beach to Chora. Be aware that pool usage allows for babies with no diapers in the main pool and little supervision of children. Otherwise, our daughter loved spending days at the beach and pool while we used our rented car to explore the island. Would definitely recommend this hotel for families. Don't forget to use the free drink vouchers you receive upon arrival.
