I had doubt about how integrated a french bistrot can be in a greek island, but the two sweet female owners who run it, gave the answer! Cycladic atmosphere combined with wonderful dishes, french-inspired, greek-executed, along with a carefully selected wine list!

Such a nice surprise in this small (almost hidden) alley. I highly recommend it, because you can experience something different to what you are used to in greek islands!

Booked a table-it does get busy, and it's not surprising, because this little restaurant really punches above its weight. For an oenophile there is plenty to delight your palate, a great selection of wine. My wife enjoyed the Buzet l'exellence. For myself, sparkling water. Rabbit and calvados rilletes were the first dish we had, apparently they take two days to make, and about 10 mins to eat! A hint of aromatic ? Green peppercorns lifted this dish to a heady level! The aubergine bruschetta benefitted from the hard Naxian cheese, the tang of which balanced the unctious garlic aubergine and crusty bread. We were clearly on a roll here, a lime and honey and spice encrusted chicken breast with green leaves was the sort of dish I can only imagine over spicing- but these people really know how to balance their seasoning and the result was another winner. Baked red pepper stuffed with mildly spiced potatoes and peas- well it could have come from our favourite Gudjaratti cook book ( Prasad). Cardamom and saffron infused poached pears sealed the evening, as the couple next to us celebrated their engagement with a bottle of champagne. We will head back to this restaurant again soon!

These two women are masters of their craft. The menu the wine list everything is so well thought out. The owner, the lady with glasses is knowledgable and charming and clearly loves what she does. Her partner as warm and really lovely to talk to. When u meet them, ask them questions about their lives, they're so interesting. Now to the food! Brilliant menu! Be careful how u read it, don't over order. It's French with a tapas theme. 3 dishes between 2 people is plenty. There is bread and have a look at the specials as they're always delicious. The wine is perfect and they chill the red slightly to get it just right. French in Naxos? I tell you it's sublime. The rabbit is amazzzzzing just fantastic. Can't say anything else other than u will love it!!!!

Our family and some friends sought out La Vigne based on TA's and weren't disappointed. It is a little hard to find as it's set back from the port and up a maze of little alleys but locals are happy to point you in the right direction.

The manager was a bit aprehensive at first as we hadn't made a reservation and she had a group of 10 arriving in about 45 mins but she was able to accommodate our group of 6 inside. The restarant is quite small with probably seating 10-12 inside and as many outside. It is designed like a wine cellar hence the name, with winemaking motifs around the place, and the menu is a mixture of classic French dishes and more modern style dishes. We opted to share a variety of the starters which were all yummy. The dishes came out fairly quickly (maybe because of the impending group) but we didn't feel rushed at all. The manager recommended a lovely French rose wine which was delicious so we ordered about four of them! Despite being rushed off her feet she still made time to come over and have a chat and take photos for us.

We had a great night in La Vigne and can recommend it for its warm environment, quality French fare, and an alternative to Greek food which of course is everywhere on the island.

This is a gorgeous little restaurant and wine bar! My husband and I booked a table through our hotel and then went for a wander in the afternoon through the old market to make sure we knew how to find it that night. It was a bit tricky navigating our way around at first! We were welcomed by the lovely French owners and were presented with the extensive wine menu. The owners are more than willing to give any advice and help you make a decision on what to drink. The food menu is small but jam packed with great choices! We ordered curry for our main on advice of some of the local store owners. We were not disappointed! The wine we ordered was delicious (and not too pricey) too! There was a very chatty, social atmosphere at this restaurant, encouraged by the friendly owners. We spent our evening chatting with both the owners (when they had a minute) and a French couple (you no it's good when the French are eating at a French restaurant!) seated on the table next to us. We finished off our lovely evening of food wine and hospitality with some delicious digestifs of cognac and calvados (apple brandy). We certainly plan on visiting this little gem again before we leave Naxos!
