Our room was in the tower with great views of the Rhine. The window outside our door had great views of the town and the church ruins that were lit at night. Room was very charming with stone walls and little "nooks" by the windows. Train noise was not a factor.

Breakfast was very good with a nice variety and eggs were made to order. The dinner we had there was excellent - probably the best we had in Germany. We decided to stay an extra night and were rewarded with a huge fireworks show (apparently from one of the river cruise companies) with fantastic views from our windows.

The hotel was great. The food was excellent. The town was charming. But the best part of Hotel Kranenturm was the owner and hostess Fatima. She was always there with a friendly smile and a great personality. Her advise was spot on and we really enjoyed our visits with her.

Room Tip: Higher rooms in the tower are great. Best views. Be ready for the stairs - long and steep.

The rooms were great. Spacious, warm, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated. There was a view from our window of the castle on the hill and the town streets. Breakfast was delicious and everything went smoothly with our stay. By far the best part of our stay was being able to spend some time with our host Fatima. We were the only ones there and were able to have a few great conversations with this amazing lady! Not only were we well rested and well fed but our spirits were high after meeting Fatima! Thanks heaps for the wonderful stay

Rick Steve's book suggested this restaurant specifically for the saurbraten. Oh my goodness, one of the best meals we had in Germany! I also highly recommend the chicken with mushrooms. Excellent wine too. Wish I could click my heels like Dorothy and be there for another dinner. One of the highlights of our trip!

Had a very enjoyable stay in Bacharach. We had a small room on the front but the windows are so solid that we didn't hear the train noise. Had a delicious first dinner in Germany at the restaurant downstairs. The building has incredible character and the location makes a great base to travel the Rhine.

My husband and I stayed for two nights of our 12 day trip from Brussels, through Germany, ending in Paris. The medieval 14th century town of Bacharach is beautiful. We had room 17 on the 4th floor with a view of the Rhine. The owners, Fatima and Kurt, were incredibly proud of their hotel and restaurant and rightfully so. The complimentary breakfast was excellent; warm rolls, omelets, variety of meats, cheese, fruit, homemade jams. We had an outstanding dinner....the chicken with spaetzle was amazing! We rented bicycles just a few doors away and there is a wonderful bike path in both directions along the Rhine. It was a short walk to the station where we caught a train for an eleven minute ride north to St. Goar where it was an unplanned bonus to be there the same weekend as their Wine Fest/Octoberfest and fireworks. Don't expect a lot of night life in Bacharach, just excellent people, food, and scenery. I would not make another trip to Germany without planning a stop at the Hotel Kranenturm.

Room Tip: If you have problems carrying luggage up flights of stairs, request a room on the lowest floor. The...

We enjoyed our stay with Fatima and Kurt. They are fans of the Rick Steves followers. We were given drinks while we waited for our room to be ready ( we were early). We knew of her physical condition from reading but never expected her to be in complete control of the entire building. She was very kind and helpful though we knew she was very busy with running the business. The food served here was bar none -the best of our 3 week travels in Europe. The schnitzel was so wonderful that my husband still talks of it. We had laundry done and it was perfectly folded back in our room that night. All the visitors that we talked to in the hotel raved about their stay. We worried about the train noise when we booked but didn't hear any.

Room Tip: Upper floors are best but no elevator as it is old.

Was here august 2012 for our honeymoon. we are asking for the tower room which were lovely. was quite hot on August but not unbearable. The windows are triple glazed so there is small train noise but not a lot. The breakfast is the best breakfast we have in germany. Ask for the lovely crunchy bacon as i have never get better bacon then the one in this lovely hotel. The cream on the top was we met rick steves here. i am following his guide and to meet him here is just a shock.
