We had just arrived in Bacharach after a transatlantic flight and a few train rides and wanted to have lunch before nap time at our B&B. Bacharach is a small village and we walked to the central area to check out a few restaurants. They were cute, some had a view of the Rhine but honestly they looked touristy and were expensive. Not our style... We wanted to find a place where the villagers would go to lunch, we walked a few short blocks along the main street and saw a sign for a biergarten near an old theatre. We walked in and saw a tent that used to house a carousel, that was the restaurant! It happened to be May Day so most people were off and celebrating with family and friends. We went in and found they had a fabulous view of the Rhine from the tent. We had a Greek salad and a Jagerschnitzel which were both delicious. The staff was friendly and fun. We enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner the next night.
