Good Deal on an average hotel chain, basic room, nothing fancy, quite, no noticable outside noise. Good location to the area, in the middle of Hampton Roads (Williamsburg, Norfolk, Virginia Beach) with easy access to interstate. Staff was friendly. Breakfast bar, was limited. Only complaint would be the OVER use of a room freshener. Wondered what they were trying to cover-up. Room was clean and ready when promised.

This is a very nice hotel. I had a coupon which was graciously acceted at the rate stated. I think I paid $49.00 per night with the coupon. (It was not over $69.00) The pool and hot tub were wonderful. We had them to ourselves most nights. There was a DVD player in our room. There is a wonderful BBQ restaurant within walking distance. This restaurant is favored by locals who use the bar. It has six sauces to choose from. Definitely try the mustard base Savannah Sauce. We want to return just to enjoy the County Grill BBQ Restaurant down the road and the indoor pool.

Room was clean and large. All amenities were good. Wife and son enjoyed the pool. Staff was EXCELLENT!!!! Location wasn't the greatest but wasn't a slum either. I had no reservation going in and out at night. Continental breakfast was very good.

Great hospitality at this hotel. They really do a great job especially the front desk people of providing good service. Country Inns are a very good mid range hotel chain that I have used a lot. This hotel is right at the top of my experiences with Country Inns.
The things I especially liked about the htl were
1. Service
2. Nice exercise room with a good elyptical trainer.
3. Good continental breakfast although the room is too small for a big crowd.
4. Beds were nice and the suites seemed to be pretty sound proof.
We stayed in a small 1 bedroom suite that was comfortable and offered privacy from our kids at nite.
The hotel is in an ok neighborhood. It is safe but nobody will ever call this neighborhood the garden spot of newport news. Kind of a commercial neighborhood that have some run down businesses.

I wrote an earlier review explaining how our group had booked 15 rooms for a sports weekend. We received a call one week before our stay telling us that the hotel had over booked and we would have to split our stay between two hotels. We were surprised that the hotel could make such a mistake. On our drive down to the hotel ( a 11 hour drive ) we got a cell phone call that somehow the hotel had found the extra rooms for our group. We were pleased that we would not have to switch hotels, but it took alot of cell phone calls to notify all of the families in our group. Some were flying some on the train and the rest driving in at different times. Alot of hassle that the hotel needs to avoid doing to other groups in the future, on top of that the woman on the phone was very rude and seemed to act like it was our problem.
Now that all being said, let me tell you how nice they made our stay. Everyone that worked at the hotel was so nice to our group, the front desk was helpful and went out of their way to get us into the rooms we wanted and quickly sent cots to anyone that requested them. We had flight delays and they kept the rooms ready and even let one family into a room early so they could take a shower and change, after a long night of flight delays. The breakfast was good and the staff took good care of our girls. the rooms were very clean as was the entire hotel. We took full use of the pool in the evening and they let us stay in the pool alittle past closing on the night when our games ran late and we did not get to the hotel till late. The management took some money off the already good rate they had quoted us, for our troubles.

The hotel staff brings excellent southern hospitality. They are very accommodating and courteous to the guest. The breakfast was more than what we expected for Continental Breakfast since they offered one hot food dish and Belgian Waffles. The double queen room we stayed at had a refrigerator, microwave, and in-room DVD. Movies can be rented at the front desk for $3.00 which is reasonable. The only downfall of the hotel is the location. It is located about 7 to 10 mins from the city center or the university.

Stayed at this hotel Feb. 24 2007. Hotel is located on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. Beautiful, clean comfortable suite. The staff was professional, friendly and very helpful. Loved the bed, not the usual hotel bed. The hotel is also near many attraction in the area. The breakfast was good, loved the waffles. We will stay here again. Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel.!!
