Learn something new about animals of all types. Get an up close look at many different species. The kids will enjoy the hands on experiences available. Great gift shop that the kids (as well as adults) will enjoy, there is something for everyone. Be sure to bring your camera for the wonderful upclose shots of the animals.

“always love this place”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I always have a season pass. I take my 4 year old there every chance we get. The outdoor walk is very nice during good weather. Not so nice when it's cold or too hot. Tip. If hot do the walk outside then go in to the mountain stream room. It's extra cold in there and you can cool down quickly.

“Worth the trip for young kids”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

This museum is half aquarium and half zoo. Many animals to see while exploring the habitats of Virginia. Aquatic animals include various fish, rays, alligator, otters, beavers, etc.. Land animals include wolves, foxes, bald eagles, deer, many types of birds, etc.. This museum also has a planetarium. Hands on activities. Especially great for under 10 years. Reasonably priced (AAA discount). Only 30 mins from Williamsburg.

“Great”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

With our grandparent passes (a real bargain) we take our granddaughter there about once a month and she loves it. We never get tired of viewing all the animals. We have taken her to some of the children's nature classes and they are wonderful. It is a beautiful museum with fantastic indoor and outdoor displays and wonderful people there to help explain things as we tour. It is a very kid friendly museum with something for the whole family. Don't miss it.
