Great value. We were two adults 25-27 and enjoyed it. Cozy enclosures so we were able to see the animals very easily. Good learning center and was informative about the local species and wildlife. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Not the best but great to see local wildlife upclose.

The Virginia Living Museum is definitely geared towards kids, although I went with my 20-something year old friends and still had a good time. The museum itself has two floors with four exhibits- very basic things like fish, bats, and pond turtles.

The outside of the museum was far more impressive, although for the $16 entrance fee, I feel it was a bit lackluster. There is a butterfly house where you can walk through and look up close at the butterflies as they fly around you. There is also a board walk that you can walk and look at animals- from condors to wolves. I found the outside of the museum far more impressive than the inside.

Also, it didn't take very long AT ALL to go through the entire thing. We were sort of surprised when we realized that we had looked at everything.

While traveling to the Newport News area, my 8 year old son wanted to visit the Virginia Living Museum. The admission seemed a bit pricey at $17 per person, but it was worth every penny. I love photography and getting to see these animals, and take pictures of them in their natural type habitats was incredible for me. The otters were our favorite because they were very mobile and entertaining. They put on a great "show" for us, but you also saw beavers, turtles, snakes, sharks, fish, a racoon, an opossum, bald eagles.... It was a great musueum to go to. I highly recommend it, especially for those with children. There is also a gift shop with lots of really nice souveniers and items to take home. My 8 year old liked the otters so much, he brought home a stuffed one!

I live in the area and take my kids, neice, and nephew regularly. They have plenty of hand on opportunities for them. The outdoor walk is refreshing and the perfect length. There is a bee exhibit, touch tank, aquariums, beavers, otters, planetarium, aviary, and a changing exhibit in the front. They also do great birthday parties!
