I never really got the Pho thing before. This place is awesome. The service is very casual but friendly. Check it out.

First time trying this complex yet simple soup for which restaurant is named. Had steak and brisquet version. Strange herbs are marvelous addition. They come on a small platter and you add whatever appeals. I put it all in. I won't give the ingredients away, but go easy on siracha chili sauce! Service is somewhat impersonal, but sometimes it is kinder to let patrons passionately enjoy their food.
I couldn't find a great vietnamese food in the Hampton Roads area. Then I discovered Pho' 79. It is a great price, and you find a good seating. They have good food and great service. It feels like you eat at a fast food restaurant.
Menu was excellent with lots of Pho options and a few other Vietnamese dishes. Portions were large. Small Pho is more than enough for all but professional eaters. Large Pho will easily feed two.
Vietnamese Coffee was delicious. Ask for the sweetened, condensed milk.
Atmosphere and decor felt a little fast food-ish. But it is Pho, after all.
Service was excellent.
Had never had noodle soup bowls before. Saw them served on the Travel Channel and sought out a local place to experience this cuisine. DELICIOUS! I had noodles and chicken (Pho Ga for $7.45). Hubby had noodles and beef . (Pho Tai Nam also $7.45) Small size is huge and plenty with leftovers for lunch the next day. Large size is $8.45 and neither of us could possibly have finished large. We had two different types of spring rolls also. (Spring rolls $3.25 and Crispy wonton rools $3.50) All of the food was AMAZING! Such clean flavors. Noodles served with accompanying bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedges, hot peppers and hoison sauce. Service was great. Atmosphere is fine. Would highly recommend giving Pho 79 a try for a unique and delicous meal.
