Took the family there for a birthday treat. Several reviews complained about the noise. Circa was about 3/4s full, but the 4 of us carried on a normal conversation. I did not find it any louder than any other restaurant I have been in. We had the NY strip, pork chop, salmon, and sea bass. NY strip was cooked perfect, tender, juicy and full of flavor, pork chop was tender and juicy, and both fish dishes were also perfect. We have been there many times for lunch, but this was the 1st time for dinner. Will be back!

“Dinning w/a Village Atmosphere”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

My wife and I were looking for something different for a romantic but still somewhat casual evening out to dinner (not many places in abundance on the peninsula).
Circa 1918 turned out to be the perfect place right on Main Street in Hilton Village.
We called ahead to reserve a two-top outside which was not yet ready when we arrived but not a problem as we enjoyed one of their Micro-brews at the Bar (Lost Coast Downtown Browns), which were perfect prior to dinner. Since the two top wasn't up (who were still enjoying the atmosphere) they gave us the 4 seat Table outside instead which became available. The waiter was very helpful explaining all the specials and courses of interest, so we started w/the Fried green tomatos over Goat cheese Appetizer - very delicious, lightly breaded and not too filling. For our main course, my wife had the Bison Meatloaf which I will have to order next time because it was amazing - However, My meal was equally as good - Lamb Burger "Animal House" style (topped w/a fried egg). We enjoyed our meals on the quite street-lit sidewalks of Hilton Village while passers-by and light traffic of the evening sprinkled past. This is a very nice setting surprisingly so for the peninsula. However, the height of the evening was the "OMG" Dessert (Macadamia nut crusted cheesecake with flambeed Bananas) - So Good my wife did not want to swallow, just let it sit on you pallet awhile to enjoy it a little longer!!! The price for the evening was perfect for the quality of the food, setting and service! We will definitely be returning.

“!!! WOW !!! I'M A FAN.....”

Absolutely amazing...get the meatloaf or get out....everything is fantastic. Noisy. Who cares !! Smallish. Big deal !! I came to eat good food and got GREAT food and service. I don't dwell on the small stuff...nothings perfect. But, this is as close as it gets. Waitstaff friendly and informative.
Bartender (Ben) a seasoned veteran, who definitely goes out of his way to please. Ask for him to make something different and unusual, you'll get great ideas put forth. One thing, some of the patrons seemed like light tippers at the bar. This infuriates me. Take care of the staff, they work hard to make this a great experience. The only negative I can think of..it didn't save me any money on my car insurance !!! :)

“Food Porn!”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

As Anthony Bourdain would say. My husband and I had heard some good reviews and decided to give it a go for a date night. We were not disappointed and in fact I think it's going to be our first choice from now on. Taking other reviews about noise levels and the small space, we booked an early seating. Ryan, our server, provided us with amazing service and detailed knowledge of the menu. Ben, the bartender, was another bright star, whipping up champy cocktail for me that was divine. The food was spectacular. My husband tried the sea bass (which it turns out is an entire one) blackened and grilled along with Napa valley slaw and remoulade. I went for the steak with wild mushrooms and brandy butter, and goat cheese au gratin with wilted spinach. Creme brûlée for dessert. The service was quiet and friendly, a great ambience for such a small place, but I can see how it could get very noisy without much effort. We're quite looking forward to the owner's new restaurant given the experience we had.

Reading past reviews, I feel like I was at the wrong restaurant. I went to this restaurant because my coworker recommended it. This place was decent and cozy. They seemed to have an excellent choice of wine and drinks. The only reason, I am rating it this low is because the meals we had were disgusting. I tried the porkchop special of the night and my sister had the crabcake. The meat portions of the food were decent, but the vegetable medley (which I do not know what was in it) was disgusting and overpowering. I also had red cabbage on top of my pork chop, which overpowered the flavor of the pork chop as well. It seems like most people go there for drinks and appetizers, that's what I noticed while I was there . So I would suggest people sticking with the appetizers and drinks. This place is also a great place for socializing.
