The room was exceptionally nice, updated furniture and a very comfortable bed. The location is 1 minute from the main gate at Ft. Eustis. Breakfast was better than average, which is a good thing, as any eateries are a couple of miles away. There was no gym (you could use the gym at the adjoining property, but it was very outdated). The staff was very attentive during my stay. I would definetely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located close to all the historic locations as well as Busch Gardens and Water Country. It did have a great price for a suite during the week of the 4th. But I was not impressed with the kitchen area. It was about the size of a wet bar with a burner. It has a small frig. and a little bigger sink than is in some wet bars with no conter room besides the sink and burners. The room itself is nice. The bathroom is almost claustraphobic. Their is a laundry area, a nice selecion of breakfast items that are kept supplied. Their is a pool for your use at the hotel next door. Very nice front desk and maid service that helped us take care of our linen needs when our son had a nose bleed.

This hotel has alot of potential but don't stay here when there is a bus or a two outside! I stayed here with family while traveling to Jamestown and we checked in only to find a BUS filled with teenage boys attending a BASKETBALL tournament at the same time staying in the hotel. They were running amuck in the hotel until I complained to security about it. They had their hands full stopping the boys from banging around in their rooms at all hours of the night. Things finally quieted down.

The room was clean and nice but the breakfast was chaos in the morning. Don't plan on eating in the breakfast nook--it is too small and too crowded--taked your food back to your room or else.

For anyone who has to do business at Fort Eustis, the Holiday Inn Express is convenient and priced fairly. It's practically right at the gate to the base. The location is also very close to Williamsburg.

The room was clean and attractive, although I agree with the previous poster who said that the shower controls were difficult to work. The continental breakfast featured fresh doughnuts, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, and so forth. It was fine for a quite bite before heading out to work.

It was clean, the staff was excellent, the breakfast was just what I paid for. The bed was only OK -- kind of hard for me -- but that's personal preference. The VERY QUIET a/c needs to be set on the high fan speed to keep the room comfortable; otherwise, the temperature fluctuates too much.

Love the shower curtain that bows out, glad to see it here. The shower temperature control is a one-handle Delta model that is really hard for someone with arthritic hands to adjust. The closet is half taken by part of the efficiency kitchen, so it would be small if you have a couple of people staying a considerable amount of time, but it didn't give me a hard time.

Why do hotels put a dim light over the closet? How am I supposed to see what color socks I'm grabbing in the morning? This one is no different.

There are really fun restaurants nearby. I'm told there's a steak house and a spaghetti place that are good if you go left out of the parking lot and go down a couple of miles. On the way to find them, I found a very good Phillipine restaurant (Philipine and American Restaurant, I think it's called) on the right side of the street. Very inexpensive, very tasty, owner is a sweetheart and will yack with you all night. And I love San Miguel beer. Don't be put off by the funky interior, and wear cool clothes.

Right next door, there's a Caribbean place. It's very clean, and the owner is a beautiful, friendly woman who is justifiably proud of the place. It's basically takeout, but there are some small tables and an uncomfortable counter. I had a goat curry that tasted better and more authentic than some restaurants I went to in the islands. Remember that authentic goat curry comes complete with big bones, and there's a quarter inch of really yummy and bad-for-you grease on top! The fried plantains were some of the best I've had in a restaurant. Skip the bread pudding and go to the Phillipine place for a lichi flan for dessert, though.

We were there for one night in a king, non-smoking room. The room was clean, cozy, comfortable, and very accomodating. It has a microwave, mini fridge, a lot of towels, coffee maker, and cable. However, there were a few things that could use improvements. The pillows were thin and lumpy. You can only get ice on the second and fourth floor which are smoking floors. The ice machine is at the end of the hall so you'll have to walk through the entire smelling floor to get your ice. The elevator was also very slow, but it was okay because we needed the excericise. The thing that bothered us were the free breakfast. It wasn't very good. The pastries were stale, and the fruits were practically spoiled. Over all, the it was a great, clean, and comfortable place to stay. It is located close to Williamsburg, Bush Garden, and many restuarants. It is rated as the second best holliday inn we stayed at.

Stayed here on November 21, and found Sony at the front desk very friendly and helpful. However the property is dated, a little out of the way and the rooms are very small for the price I paid or when compared to other properties in the chain.
