The title says it all. Tom and Jen were our chalet hosts and they were exceptional. They made us all feel very welcome, they worked incredibly hard and they can cook well. This was all the more commendable when taking into consideration the lack of support they received from Alpine Elements and the state of the cooking facilities they were left to work with. Half way through the holiday the gas stopped working meaning that most of the kitchen had to be ripped out. One night it was impossible for them to provide food despite their bests efforts. As a party we had to argue with Alpine Elements in order to get fed that night. They eventually agreed to send us out for a meal (25 Euros a head @ almost 10 o'clock) but not until a long and drawn out negotiation had taken place.

The hot tub packed in with 2 days left of our holiday which was very disappointing after a hard days skiing.

Other than that things were ok. The rooms were a little small but they were well maintained by Tom and Jen.

We will not be using alpine Elements again in the future.

Please note: The 5 star rating for service is for Tom and Jen, not for Alpine Elements.

We were a group of snowboarders and enjoy the delights of meribel for the third time and chalet Lou trouvé proved great . Only a couple of points were the under floor heating was not always working and problems with the oven one night . Note to owners please get these sorted as not good enough ....... Alpine elements were great with info and John Jen and Tom had got to grips with the chalet . We had a great experience . Food excellent company of other guests fab. Yes we were lucky.. Take the plunge and enjoy chalet life in meribel chalet Lou trouvé . Campbell and the boys from scotland .

A group of friends rented the whole chalet for February half term, it was expensive! We chose the chalet for its size and "gold star" rating. Jen and Tom our chalet hosts were lovely and did their best BUT:
the chalet was very cold (we had to sit with our ski jackets on) until on day 5 of our week, after much complaining, the resort manager and owner came and miraculously switched on the underfloor heating!! The chalet hosts didn't know it existed!
The electricity tripped repeatedly - one guest was instructed how to switch it back on!! but was very uncomfortable doing so several times a night - an indication that the electrics were not very safe.
The kitchen was inadequate for the size of the chalet and it was dirty - the chalet hosts worked hard but had obviously not received sufficient training or monitoring to ensure that that hygeine standards were adherred to.
In addition the hot tub only worked for the first two days, the shuttle bus DOES NOT stop outside the door, only runs every 20 mins and sometimes is too full to get on. We have stayed in many chalets this one was oversold and under delivered, I would never travel with Alpine elements again.

This is the first time I am sorry to say I have had to write a bad review about any holiday. Our experience was not good. When a couple of things do not go right you tend to forgive and forget. When they keep on coming you get to be an unhappy customer.
Pretty all of what was wrong is fixable quite easily like most things ususally are. The sauna for example which I was told specifically before we left was in full working order was not working till half way through the week. The TV and DVD did not work properly the whole of the week which the kids were unhappy about having brought there favourite DVDs to watch.
The hot water system was not set properly so only one of the three tanks was operational so only half the chalet guests got a hot shower on their return. It did not heat up again till the morning. Initially it was suggested to us by the staff that it was our fault, we use too much water, then half way through the week after more and more complaints they realised the system was not set correctly.
Breakfasts were never on time. They were washing up last nights dinner crockery in the morning when breakfast should have been served and on the table. This caused problems as we had to meet ski instructors by 9.30am.
Some of the food was really not good at all and there were virtually no vegetables served with the main meals. This was certainly not in our view premium cuisine. One slice of courgette as your vegetable with a main course might be haut cuisine in some places, here it was not.
Like I say, we had apologies and forgave and had more apologies and forgave but the apologies kept on coming and we got tired of saying it was alright - as it wasn't.
We won't go on as it gets borish - all we can say is never again with alpine elements I am afraid - post holiday complaints to customer service seem to be fruitless.
Maybe it was just a bad week but we will not take a gamble with them next time.
The Chalet staff were nice but the service was not up to scratch. Most of the guests were seasoned skiers and all of us were not happy customers.
Otherwise, the chalet location is quiet. It's a bus ride to the Meribel Centre and lifts and the buses are not very frequent. Often it can be as quick to walk though not in your ski boots.
Meribel was quiet the week we were there, 17/12/11 - 24/12/11.Barometer was the busiest place we found for apres ski in the town. Loved the Coucheval side of the Valley and the piste des animeux and a drink at the Ronde Point, didn't like Val Thorens so much.
Ski Instructor was great. Ski Hire too.
Mountain side cafe's were better priced that I thought they would be.
Quite a few photographers inviting you to pose for the camera at different places.
Beach Shorts are not allowed in the pool - got to be skin tight speedo types.
The Tavern was full for the meal when we had when the chalet staff had their night off. Good value and nice atmosphere.

.

Room Tip: Our group had three rooms on the ground floor, two twins and a quad - all ok

My friend and I stayed at Chalet Lou Trave for a week on 10/12/11, we had chosen this chalet as it had a hot tub and a sauna. On arrival at the airport we were put on to a coach for the 2 1/2 hour transfer. We arrived to a really lovely warm chalet where the staff had laid on cake and tea. Our room was very nice but the bed was already broken as the struts were so thin. I had to try and repair it. I learnt that some other beds had also broken in the chalet. As it was only 2pm we were disappointed to be told that the hot tub was not working as the owner of the chalet was refusing to pay for the hot tub filters. We thought that we could therefore have a sauna.....then told that this was not working either !!. The rep a female called Korin (not sure of spelling) was to arrive at some point and tell us how we would get our ski passes and collect our ski's. As it was only 2.30pm we would have liked to have had the opportunity to get a few hours on the slopes but there was no one available to give us the ski information. Korin arrived at 5pm and was totally clueless ....she had no idea on bus times etc to the slopes. She took requests from some to upgrade their ski passes, which was cheaper that doing it on line !. The following morning we had to wait around till 9.30am for Korin to bring our lift passes. She arrived and surprise surprise had not bought the upgraded ones ! She bought one bus timetable for us to share between 12 ! The food were very good considering the chalet hosts were very young and having little experience were coking for a large number.
We shared the chalet with 8 men. They were a nightmare, taking advantage of the free wine and having drinking games during dinner each evening which resulted in one of them vomiting across the dinner table and another falling off of his chair totally paralytic. They would then go out to the pub arriving back each night between 12.30 and 4.30 am ! making so much noise that others in a separate chalet were awoken by the shouting. The two chalet hosts Jen and Tom were fantastic and tried to keep everyone happy constantly apologising to us for the behaviour of the others, though not having the experience to know how to handle these unruly men. Korin would appear each evening at 7pm and was only interested in bantering with the men and would laugh and encourage their drinking the fact that they had been kicked out of a pub in the village was just funny in her view ! After four meal times and evenings from hell..we had had enough and decided that we could not stand any more of living with what was a pack of animals ! Were the men asked to leave...NO, Was drink for them banned...NO, We were offered a chalet next door which was not of the same rating and didn't have a hot tub or sauna. The lack of facilities made no difference to us as having civilised company was more important. I had through the week hurt my leg badly and needed to get to the medical centre, Korin was more interested in the driver collecting chalet supplies than arranging a lift for me into the village. In my opinion Korin was the most useless rep that I have ever met she had no information or interest on the weather, which ski lifts were open or bus times. The sauna never was fixed and the hot tub was put on with out filters after two days though would not heat up more than 30 degrees. Overall, if you book a shared chalet it is pot luck who else you share with. The facilities should be as expected and the reps should be clued up on local knowledge as well as having training on coping with unruly guests. Would I book alpine elements again ...No as lack of training a major issue. All facilities advertised should be working and in good order.

Room Tip: Go on top floor as quieter...room 7 is biggest.

My wife and I stayed at the Chalet Lou Trave for a week's skiing in March 2011, and were treated to outstanding service from our Alpine Elements Chalet Hosts. The breakfasts were very good, and the 3 course evening meals were superb, with free flowing wine every night.

Our room was a decent enough size, but fairly basic as seems to be the case in most French Chalets. The Lou Trave is located in a quiet area of Meribel, but is only a 5 minute bus journey to the main ski lift area.

The Chalet also benefits from having an indoor sauna, an outdoor hot tub, and a boot room for drying out the ski boots after a hard day's skiing.

Being slightly picky, the Chalet could have been a little cleaner, and ideally could have been located closer to the slopes. However we would definitely stay there again for the wonderful food and service from the Chalet Hosts, and for the vast ski area on offer.

Room Tip: Room 4, has access to a nice view and balcony.

Execellent hosts and food made up for the small bedroom (en suite shower was v.g.). Well placed for the hub of Meribel (2 stops on the bus or 10 min walk). Hot tub and sauna differentiated this chalet from many others. Quiet location.
