“Value for the money, but cramped common area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

The one warning here is that the living room is very small and a large group would feel cramped and the decor is in need of updating.

That said, the beds are good the showers are hot, the rooms are nice and the price is good value. The real upside is that the food really outshines the dated chalet. And I said the food is good, but bring your own wine.

The chalet is a solid walk from town, but the host Matt is super nice, and he drops you at the lift in a flash. He also makes reservations, arranges lift tix, and ski rentals. He is a very helpful five star addition to a two star property.

Hello and Good Evening.

Thank you for your recent review on Trip Advisor for your recent stay at Chalet Everest.
I would like to ask why you have rated our cleanliness as just 1 star? I think this is really harsh, this is the very first time in nearly 50 independent reviews that anyone has rated us below a 4 star.

You also mention a cramped living area, there are in fact 2 living spaces with plenty of sofa seating for a full capacity of 15 guests, there were only 9 guests in the chalet the week you stayed, it is not possible that you felt 'cramped' surely?

Also you stated that you felt the wine to be poor and guests should bring their own, I have had over 1000 guests through the doors of Chalet Everest in the past 5 seasons and not one single person has had a bad word to say about the wine. You paid less than £375 for a 4-night stay, you surely cannot expect to be served a Pinot Noir or a Sancerre for these prices, yet you also state that the chalet is good value for money, surely this statement contradicts itself.

A 2 star chalet with a 5 star service, this statement is fair, but I feel that Everest is more of a 3 and a half star chalet. The fact remains that Everest is not billed as a luxury chalet, we are not trying to be anything else apart from a 3 star (middle of the road) chalet with excellent service and a great chef knocking out some really good food.
So I find some of your comments very harsh indeed.

If you could perhaps amend some of the things you said and possibly remove the comment about the wine I would really appreciate it.

I understand that you may not have found everything to your liking, but these negative comments do have a major effect on future custom

You absolutely can't go wrong with Chalet Everest. Mat runs a great chalet and his team provides excellent service. Not only is the location great but the chalet itself is very comfortable and clean. Equipment is kept warm and delivered from door to mountain each day. The meals are also prepared by a chef each day and are incredible after a long day on the piste. Mat also knows the 3 Valleys very well and can either join you on the piste or provide great advice on where to explore the mountain for each level of experience.

I've only skied North America prior to my visit to Chalet Everest but Mat makes the Alps experience well worth the trip. Can't wait to return in 2014!

I have returned year after year to Chalet Everest where Mat has made me feel very welcome right from the moment you step in to the Chalet. The GoSkiMeribel Team were very knowledgable and only too willing to attend to our every need.

Room Tip: A great sauna and lovely coffee!

This is my 2nd time with goskimeribel staying at Chalet Everest and I'm glad I did. I've skiied in other resorts but the friendly atmosphere and high standards of the chalet, and the amazing pistes offered by the 3 valleys is hard to beat. Mat who manages the chalet runs a tight ship and his personal attention really makes the difference compared to the large anonymous ski companies I've used before. Airport transfers, ski hire and lift passes were all organised for us in advance and equipment is brought to your door so we barely had to lift a finger all week. And if you've still got energy left after a day of skiing the huge variety of pistes, Meribel's legendary nightlife is all within walking distance of the chalet. One week wasn't nearly long enough to see it all so I'm certain I'll be back again next year. All in all, a really good holiday.

This was my second experience of Chalet Everest having spent 12 long months looking forward to revisiting an amazing trip last year. From start to finish Mat and the team made us feel right at home in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A beautiful open fire and drinks reception greeted us upon arrival followed by an amazing 3 course meal. From the management of our ski rental an lift passes to information on the local attractions and best ski routes for the conditions Mat and the gang were always at hand to listen and to help when needed. The location is fantastic as it is just a short walk from town. The Chalet itself is superb and combined with the class leading hospitality and location I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you are planning a trip this really is the only place to stay. 5 stars.

"Amazing" is the only word that can describe my recent experience at chalet Everest with Go Ski Meribel. Arriving from California and a long journey, Matt and his team had me feeling right at home. There wasn't a need to worry the mind of a single thing. They ensured our ski equipment and piste tickets were arranged and sorted which made getting on the slopes effortless.
Dare I mention how absolutely fantastic the meals are? What a treat to arrive each evening from skiing to find a three course meal, cocktails and wine. The effort put into each course was thoughtful, resulting in amazing and delicious creations.
Mat was available to cruise us up to the slopes each morning which saved us plenty of time and effort.
Overall, the experience was fantastic. Looking forward to a return in 2014.

Hard to fault the experience. Very helpful from the moment we paid the deposit in terms of organising transfers, ski passes, lessons etc. and once we were there in organising lifts to/from the ski lifts and dinner on the staff night off. The food is exceptional and drink plentiful. Mat and his staff are very accommodating. We will be returning next year!
