After fleeing the traffic-clogged coastline of Antibes which we thought looked allot like California, we were so happy to find the quiet (in April mind you) charming hill top village of Bonniveux. Les Trois Sources was exactly what we were looking for in accomodation and was recommended to us by another B&B owner on the coast who likes to escape to this part of the French countryside on weekends. If you like to be away from the hordes and experience more a "natural" France, take walks and hikes (there is also mountain biking near by) while drinking fabulous regional very drinkable 9-Euro-a bottle wines and hitting up some pretty spectac cafes on the hillside, this is the place for you. Be sure to ask B&B owner Paul for restuarant recommendations for Bonniveux. Walk off your dinners on the winding, skinny laneways filled with charming 1300 and 1400 architecture. Hit the local supermarche for cheese and wines and have your own fun in the garden before dinner. Breakfast is a typicaly simple affair for this part of the world (coffee, bread, jam, croissant). There's a pool to lounge by. The spring is a wonderful time to go as it's not too hot and the tourists have yet to truly arrive. Paul has done a wonderful job of restoring this historic property. A highlight of our 2 weeks in France.
