“Excellent B&B in lovely place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

Jean Marc and Marie Laure have created an ideal B&B on the outskirts of the lovely village of Bonnieux. There are five rooms ranged along a terrace overlooking the valley and hills of Luberon, each with its own terrace area and lounger, and there is also a communal kitchen with fridge and microwave, very useful for getting snacks together (you can't cook hot food), and also if you have small children you want to feed without going to a restaurant. There's a nice pool with more loungers. Good breakfasts served on another terrace or in a dining room if its cold or drizzling. The location is excellent, with lots of charming villages and countryside around. Jean Marc speaks good English, and he and Marie Laure are excellent hosts and happy to advise on your holiday. We recommend Les Terrasses du Luberon without reservation.

Room Tip: Don't think there is much to choose between the five rooms; they all have the same view and faci...

Last week we returned from a whirlwind trip 7 day trip to France, the majority of which was spent in beautiful Provence. Perhaps foolishly, we hadn’t booked a place to stay prior to our arrival in France, but we had a wish list in mind for our stay in Provence’s Luberon region:

1. A place in with a view of the Luberon in an intimate setting; 4-5 guestrooms max.
2. A room with a private terrace where we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying a view.
3. Clean, well maintained guest rooms.
4. Reasonably priced.
5. Breakfast included.
6. Not 100% necessary, but perhaps a pool.

While we conceded we would probably have to make some comprises, we hoped we could find something that met at least 2 or 3 of the criteria on our list...so imagine just how THRILLED we were when we were lucky enough to book at stay at Les Terrasses du Luberon for 5 nights! Truly, if we could have designed the ideal place to stay in Provence ourselves, it would be Les Terrasses - in a word, it was PERFECT. Every one of the items on our wish list were not only met, they were exceeded, thanks in great part to our charming and very hospitable hosts, Jean Marc and his lovely wife Marie Laure.

Jean Marc and Marie Laure are somewhat new to the guesthouse business - but you would never know it - they have taken ever so naturally to their new roles, it is as if they have been doing this for years. Both welcomed us with open arms to their beautiful home/B&B, and for the duration of our stay, were attentive to all our needs, provided us with delicious breakfasts, good conversation (Jean Marc speaks English quite fluently), and a wealth of information about the area in which we were staying. In fact, we took Jean Marc up on every one of his informative recommendations about sights and places to see in the region, and were not disappointed. It truly would be difficult to find more gracious and friendly hosts - merci beaucoup to both of you!

As for the accommodations themselves, again, our expectations were more than met - all the rooms have been recently renovated/upgraded, with spotless modern bath/toilet facilities that included a “rain” style showerhead, soft fluffy towels that hung on a heated towel rack (loved it!), and my personal favourite, a REAL (i.e. not attached to the wall) powerful hairdryer! (This may not sound that exciting to some - but believe me, trying to run my hairdryer from Canada though an electrical travel converter was a fruitless endeavour in other hotels we stayed in). The room itself was spotless, smelled fresh and clean, and the bed was kingsize and comfortable.

Les Terrasses also has a wonderful modern kitchen area for the exclusive use of their guests - so if you want to put your own meals together, I can't think of a more pleasant place to prepare a light meal and clean up your dishes!

For me though, the biggest selling point was our private terrace - coming “home” after long days of sightseeing, the part of our stay at Les Terrasses that I will never forget was sitting at our bistro table outside our room (lovely outdoor furniture) and rehashing our day while watching the play of light over the stunning Luberon valley as the sun set, enjoying a bottle of fabulous wine from the vineyard just around the corner - just like having your own private Provençal patio. Pure heaven - I’m telling you, it really doesn’t get any better.

Last but not least, Les Terrasses du Luberon’s location in the charming town of Bonnieux was ideal. The centre of town was within easy walking distance, and of all the historic hill towns we visited in the area, we fell most in love with Bonnieux - a little more subdued and less touristy than some of the others around us (in other words, perfect for us) - but with a lively Friday morning market, and first class restaurants (we enjoyed an absolutely stupendous meal in town at the restaurant at Hotel Cesar on our last night in Bonnieux - at a table with another beautiful view over the valley). And should you visit the town’s boulangerie, do yourself a favour and buy a “festive” baguette (Les Terrasses also serves them at breakfast, to die for!), and the citron tarts....I would travel back to Bonnieux for those alone!

We continue to pinch ourselves over just how fortunate we were that Jean Marc and Marie Laure had room for us. Without question, our stay with them enhanced our Provencal experience immensely - we truly felt we were welcomed as friends to Les Terrasses. Thank you again Marie Laure and Jean Marc! You made our stay in Provence unforgettable - we only hope we will be fortunate enough to meet you again some day. Nous vous sommes extrêmement reconnaissants!

We have just returned from a five night stay at Les Terrasses du Luberon. We would highly recommend it. This is an excellent place to stay with sweeping views over the Luberon. Bonnieux itself is an excellent jumping off point for Provence and the house is a convenient 10 minute walk from the village.

Jean Marc and Marie Laure are charming hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation itself is very beautiful and has been recently refurbished to a very high standard.

There are five guest bedrooms that each face the veranda and the view over the Luberon valley. Each room has its own secluded seating area with a table, chairs and lounger that overlooks the view.

There is a kitchen for the exclusive use of guests which is equipped with a kettle, fridge and microwave and good quality crockery. The entrance to the kitchen is from a glass covered conservatory that has tables and chairs and a view of the valley. You can sit and have a snack in comfort if the weather is against you.

The bedrooms have been newly refurbished to a very high standard and are tastefully decorated. The beds are new and new bathrooms have been installed in all the bedrooms with a walk in overhead shower.

The towels and bed linen are excellent quality. The rooms also have WiFi and each room has a TV.

Jean Marc and Marie Laure are lovely and very helpful. Jean Marc speaks really good English.

Breakfast takes place in the guest dining room which has a picture window and a view over the valley. Breakfast was very good and in addition to croissants and delicious bread from the baker, there was the option to have ham, cheese and a boiled egg as well as yoghurt. There is a nice selection of jams including Marie Laure’s home-made fig jam.

Be aware that a lot of restaurants close in Bonnieux on a Wednesday evening so it would be good to make a reservation. Le Fournil and Pizzeria Flambee are both open on a Wednesday. Both are excellent. Jean Marc is happy to make a table reservation for you. He also has a torch you can borrow to walk into the village at night (8-10 minute walk) but the road is not well lit in places.

Room Tip: We chose room 1. But all the rooms seems to be excellent

Les Terrasses du Luberon is run by a lovely couple, Jean Marc and Marie Laure who will
make sure your every need is met and that you are most welcome. When the days are sunny, they serve breakfast on the upper terrace with enchanting views of the Luberon, but even if the weather isn't cooperating, the dining room is a pleasure to sit in, to enjoy the lovely view and to share in the conversation with the other guests.

The B and B is located just at the edge of Bonnieux, a charming provencal hill town, and after visiting many of the towns throughout Provence, Bonnieux remains one of our favorites, especially for a traveler. Our trip would not have been the same without Jean Marc and Marei Laure, and we will always cherish our time there.

This wonderful Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to spend some relaxed days in the Provence.
The Owners are lovely and very kind people, who are always there to help or give recommendations for Restaurants or places to see. The little Hide-Away is located just outside of Bonnieux, a very authentic and pretty little french town. Breakfast is perfect (all wishes are fullfilled), the rooms are quiet and specious and the terrace just in front of all rooms is probably the best you can find in the Provence. Bonnieux has more than 5 good restaurants and is more or less in the center of the Luberon. From here is is just a couple of kilometers to see all sights of the Provence.
We loved our stay and we can highly recommend to stay in the "Terrasses du Luberon.

We arrived at Las Terrasses and were greeted warmly by Jean Marc and Marie Laure. They made us feel right at home from the start - perfect hosts in every way. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The views from this hillside were amazing. While the breakfast conversations were riveting, it was hard not to constatly peek outside. At 130 Euro a night, it was an elegant bargain.

Room Tip: The wifi is better in rooms 1-3.

After an 800 mile drive from England, arriving here to be greeted so warmly by Jean Marc was just what we needed. He and his wife are great hosts and are clearly suited to their new role - they have been running Les Terrasses for less than a year.
There are only 5 rooms arranged along one terrace that has fabulous views over to Mt Ventoux; each room has its own private sitting area. Rooms are comfortable and cool even wtthout aircon....bathrooms are fine but are probably due an update. Sound proofing is good - 2 of the other couples each had a young baby and we were not disturbed...in fact it was very sociable out on the terrace.
The pool is large and also has great views.
Breakfast is served until 10.30 am and is excellent, with boiled eggs, meats and cheeses on offer, plus pastries, coffee, juices etc. This was served on the upper terrace with, again, great views.
We highly recommend this as a friendly and quiet place to stay within easy walking distance of a beautiful village.
