A 3 star hotel in a great position. Lovely girl on reception when we arrived and spoke English when our basic French deserted us which was reassuring. The shower was very good with hot strong water. 3 nights allowed us to utilise the room and be able to look out over the harbour and feel a part of the action in the comfort of our room when the weather was inclement.

Room tip: Choose harbour view rooms

We visited in April 2018 and the rooms appeared to have been freshly decorated, they were simple but clean and adequate. We did not find it a problem that the manager spoke only French, we were in France after all! The important thing you need to know when visiting Il de Re if you have driven there is whether your hotel has parking. (Hotel du Port hasn't). The car parks on the quay are free for one hour and free from 8pm until 8am, any time outside this is rather expensive. There are two large free car parks in St Martin and the nearest is about 15 mins walk from the hotel. We treated this daily trek as a little workout but was inconvenient if you have suitcases and its raining!

The Hotel was very clean, not cheap at £100 per night. Excellent breakfast, helpful staff. The bathroom had missing tiles on the bath side, a pathetic hand-held shower, difficult to use on long hair, without slipping in the bath, hopeless if elderly or disabled or unsteady on feet. No lift. Not disability friendly. The free car-parking was misleading as it is a communal free car-park with a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. This should be made very clear on booking. Wonderful if it is raining with all your luggage to carry on foot. Position good for bars and restaurants right on the quay side.

Room tip: Ask for a harbour view.

So, little man 'greets' us as if we're an intrusion, gives us the worse room, despite the hotel being half full and is unhelpful during the three days of our stay.
The room has a huge and very noisy extracting duct immediately outside that means the window has to stay such & the AC is locked at the 'hardly working' setting. So sleep us, at best, sporadic, in the lovely weather.
The duct also goes next to the hotel's lovely little terrace, making it unusable. The island is a delight, just find another hotel!

Three of us stayed in a room for seven nights at the start of August. Our room faced onto the harbour and we had the most fantastic views when we opened our windows in the morning.
The receptionist does not have any English which would have been a bit of a problem for me as I have absolutely no French, but fortunately the other two girls could ask a few questions and understand a few answers!!!!
The room was a little bit tight for four people as it was a double bed and a pull out sofa and we had it for seven nights. It did the job though.
We enjoyed our time and I would stay here again.
