Super-fabulous ice cream range, some weird and wonderful (one child tried the Schtroumf), but between us all we tried - over two trips - cappuccino, salted caramel, chocolate, foret noir, vanilla, stracciatella, chocolate menthe, schtroumf and a couple others. Really fabulous but heavy on the pocket if you've a few kids with you, as I always do, so a trip to the glacier with several children and a chocolate-loving woman isn't a cheap snack. Still didn't feel like a waste of money though, it was so good. The service at this branch was excellent and friendly.

Ice cream fans will weep tears of joy when first seeing this lovely ice cream parlour. Hard to miss on the busy quay side of this picturesque and bustling port on the lovely Ile De Re. A large open fronted shop with a multitude of colourful and flavoursome ice creams laid before you and views of the spotless area with its shining fridges at the rear where they are made.

Numerous flavours from the "usual suspects" to more exotic types as well - I am sure I saw oyster flavour there once but didn't try it! It is always busy and my favourite is the strawberry sundae (sorry, don't recall the name they give it) made before your eyes and, unlike lesser sundaes, with sliced strawberries generously added so that they go to the bottom of the pot, ice cream and industrial quantities of cream.

We noticed this year that this parlour had been ranked in the top 5 of all France, also that they had opened another branch elsewhere on the island and a "salon de the" a short distance away in one of the roads leading from the quay.

This place is a "must visit" on our annual day trip here from our Vendee holiday, along with a donkey ride in the park, a visit to market at Ars en Re and sometimes a trip up the Phare de Baleine.
