“Little gem”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

This is a charming small hotel with an excellent restaurant. Highly recommended. We stayed in a room on the front but were not troubled by traffic noise because of well-fitting windows and efficient air-conditioning.

A wonderfully serene and tasteful Easter Sunday lunch at the restaurant. The young couple who owns this hotel/restaurant has done a marvelous job of recreating the timeless atmosphere of the traditional Oleron demeure bourgeois. We only went for lunch, but the hotel has four delightful rooms/suites and I am sure they all keep up the delicate and tasteful furnishing we found in the restaurant. The menu is short, but every dish is well designed and executed. The wine list is extensive and varied, but value for money is ever-present. This is one of the few quality restaurants which remains in Ile d'Oleron since mass tourism has forced others to either close or go for lower quality menus. To keep qualified personnel is the major challenge.
The village/town of Le Chateau has a very charming port area just within walking distance of the restaurant. Recently traditional oyster farm "cabanes" have been transformed to arts and crafts outlets with great success. You'll find them all in the port.
I can recommend Les jardins d'Alienor, the restaurant and the port of Le Chateau.

Room Tip: Only four, two are doubles and two are suites

We were 2 and a little baby.
This small hotel (4 rooms) is very very nice.
It sure is going to seduce a couple or anyone seeking a bit of romantism and charm.

The room was clean, with a nice decoration and a spacious bathroom.
It was equiped with A/C, flat screen, wifi radio.

We managed to get a craddle for our baby without a problem.
The service was very nice and helpful.

The hotel is well located at "Le Chateau", it's near (you can go on foot) the very nice Vauban's citadelle, you can also go to the beach by walking. You can also rent a bicycle near the hotel.

Breakfast was very good, simple but with good products.
