Sunday middle of February. Rain, wind, cold. It was good to come inside the warmth of the restaurant. We had a very good meal with no hazzle. The restaurant has developed an interesting proposal. Instead of a fixed menu or a full à la carte they suggest two "formulas" where you can navigate freely between the two to create you own menu of entree, main and dessert as you feel. A feeling of freedom!!
The service was good and the carte de vin adequate. The seafood dishes were great and we ended the meal with Café gourmand which turned out to be a copious dessert in itself!!
Ile d'Oleron is wonderful in the summer, but winters can be harsh and difficult. It's good that lEcailler stays open to receive guests even in the low season.
