My wife and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We've been visiting Ile de Ré for almost 20 year. Through the years we stayed in many hotels in different towns all over the island and found this one rather remarkable because it has sufficient parking space, which is mostly a problem on Ile de Ré. The room (superior) was spacious and very clean. It's located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance (5min.) of the nice center of La Flotte. Daily breakfast is well taken care of and contains pastries and jams. Looking forward to go there again!

Had pre-booked a couple of nights as part of a driving holiday. Hotel lived up to the reviews. good secure parking. Our room in the main block, Hotel at the "back" of the town, Owners lovely, however, we decided to stay on the island for 3 more nights and looked for a hotel with more facilities and closer to the harbour/sea and with a view. Discovered that the majority are like this one , more like bed and breakfast. There are so many restaurants we can see that a hotel restaurant might not be viable?

Room Tip: Hotel straddles 2 streets, cars in on one, out on the other, try to avoid a room fronting the "out" street, other guests reported some minor noise from returning guests on foot, probably us!!

My wife and I stayed at La Galiote for a week in mid October and had a wonderful time. It is in a lovely quiet spot but only a few minutes walk from the centre of La Flotte with its range of restaurants. Marie and Jean, the owners are very helpful, indeed as we arrived on a Sunday night out of season Madame was anxious to get a restaurant booking for us which she managed to do at perhaps the only restaurant open that night. Marie and Jean don't speak English which meant my French improved greatly - which is a good thing!

THe hotel is comfortable, clean and charming, I recommend it highly.

we stayed 2 nights on recomendations on t.a. the hotel was lovely & staff friendly &informative,my only critisism would be if you like a nap in the afternoons it prob wont happen as the reception is noisey & rooms are very close to it! also as we eat in the evenings we dont do breakfast but like a cup of tea,we informed the lady we had bought our own teabags & would just require hot water & a drop of milk were quite taken aback when they charged us 4 euro's for 2 teapots of water & a small jug of milk(only the french could get away with that)!!!

We booked La Galiote for a week after reading the other reviews, and it was an excellent choice. We went in early October, so just out of season, and were extremely well looked after. Marie and Jean, the owners, don't speak a word of English but are absolutely lovely and could not have been more welcoming.

We booked the superior double for a bigger bed, and our room was fantastic. We were in one of the 'exterior' rooms - there are a couple of separate buildings with 3 or 4 rooms each away from the main building - we had a large room with air con, plenty of wardrobe space, table & chairs and a couple of comfy chairs for sitting/reading as well. There was a TV but it only carries French channels. And the ensuite bathroom was fabulous - very stylish, his&her basin and a wet room style shower.

Outside was another table & chairs, perfect for enjoying a picnic breakfast or lunch in the sunshine.

Breakfast is not included in the price; we took it on the first morning and it was a delicious and substantial breakfast of bread, pastries, yoghurt & fresh fruit; but after that we picked up what we wanted every morning from the market, the boulangerie, the fromagerie and the 8 till 8 supermarket (actually more like 9.30 till 1 and 3 till 7.30 while we were there!) - all of which are a very short walk from the hotel in the centre of La Flotte.

For getting around there is a bus stop very near the hotel, and you can rent bikes and cycle everywhere you want - it really is as easy as the tourist guides say.

The only things I would take next time to make the stay absolutely perfect would be a pair of slippers (the floor of the room and the bathroom is tiled throughout and can be a little chilly in cool weather) and a travel kettle. I gathered from Marie that they used to have them in the room until some (English) visitors used one to cook fish soup in!!
