Visited the Palais Benedictine. Holds many treasures and also the only place in the world where Benedictine is made.

Date of experience: September 2019

We toured the Palais Benedictine in Fecamp. It is the ONLY place in the world where Benedictine is made. (NOTE:Benedictine is an age-old liqueur originally developed by in this palais by monks.)
The tour included viewing the palais and various old artifacts. Some were unique such as a room filled with wrought-iron products of the 1500's and 1600's, including some huge locks and door hinges and door latches. Also many old manuscripts and documents. Was quite fascinating.
Also viewed a replica of the process for making Benedictine and ended with a sample tasting of the product.
Interesting Tour.

We ordered online our tickets and booked our tour at 1200 hrs. When we arrived a quarter before noon the reception informed us that museum will close at 1230 and that the time was too short to do a tour. She recommended to come back at 1400 hrs. We just drove one hour to be in time for the tour at 12!!!! Ok we walked around in Fécamp for 2 hrs and came back. The guided tour was disappointed. The guide told exactly the same story as we just have heard and seen in the video at the museum. Also the interesting part, the copper distillations barrels, we were not allowed to enter. Therefore I would NOT recommend to make a trip to visit the Palais Benedictine.

Thank you for visiting Le Palais and for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry about this situation, which should not have happened. We have implemented actions so i doesn't happen again to another visitor. About the distillery, we advise our visitors who are interested in the liquor especially to join the Connoisseur tour, on which they learn more about the elaboration process of the Bénédictine liquor. For safety reasons, the distillery isn't open, as it is a production area. We invite you to contact us through social medias (Facebook/Instagram) or at infos@benedictine.fr so we can find a way to improve your Experience with us.

Fecamp city was a one day trip for us. Everybody advised us to visit the Palais Benedictine which we did in 2h30. My teens are keen on old buildings, historical places and artifacts and we were not deceived. The visit of the Distillery was less impressive but it's very clearly explained (thanks to the video).

Fabulous place to visit, oddly situated in a stark fishing village, Fecamp. Toured the palace and distillery. Stopped for coffee in an excellent cafe inside the Palais. Worth visiting.
