We stayed 8 nights at the BB Hotel Coquelles. Good location. Next to Auchan shopping mall. Very friendly staff. Clean - very comfortable beds. Great area. If you like fish - go to AUDRESSELLE - 20 minutes from Calais. Rest. Le Retour des Flobards. Best ever. Discovered a small lake 3 minutes from the Hotel. Base de voile Tom Sou.... Try the chars à voile in Marck. 20 minutes from the BB Hotel. Reservation 03 21 85 17 46 or charsac @orange.fr. A great experience and only € 20 for 2 hours incl. instructions.

Room Tip: Room 33/32/31 - groundfloor

We stayed overnight on our way back home. The hotel is perfectly OK and very reasonable. Pleasant welcome and all clean and in order. What you would expect from a modern hotel of passage.

Two problems:
1. Signage is very bad and even with Sat Nav and when we could see the hotel it was difficult to find the way in.
2. It was obvious that both of the rooms we used had had smokers in them - might have been our fault since we did not specify non-smoking.

Room Tip: Specify a non-smoking room

We use this hotel as a stopover on our way to France from the North of England. We know that is a budget hotel, we don't expect much and don't get much. We have stayed here many times and it is always to the same decent standard.

You get a clean room with en-suite shower room. The bed is fine and everything is nice and clean. The car park in front has often been full by the time we arrive, but we have parked outside the fence on the road and the car has always been OK. If you get there late you need your booking number, and you use the screen to print the code to enter the room and pay. Last time after a huge delay at the Eurotunnel we arrived at 5am.

Just down the road is a massive Auchan (supermarket), handy for buying water, breakfast sweets, snacks for driving, etc.

A handy tip: On Av Roger Salergro, at GPS point 50.944652,1.824803 on Google Maps is a patisserie with delicious croissants and pain au chocolat, drinks too. Sandwiches, pizza, etc for lunch if you are worried about finding a decent service station. A cheap breakfast and very nice too. The perfect start to a trip in France.

We use this chain a lot so booked without a care knowing that the standard is always the same.We were disappointed that the room (a disabled room) was next the the noisy stairwell, The bathroom door had a broken lock so would not close and the continuous extractor fan which admitted a smell to "keep fresh" was over powering. In fairness to the desk staff they offered to move us ,but after a 12 hr drive we just wanted to collapse. I felt that the staff new about the lock and indeed the same problem would present it self to the next guest.
I have to say that this is the first time I have ever had a problem with this chain in 10 yrs.... so a one off .

Room Tip: this was room number 21

We have stayed at the Coquelles B&B for several years, as a stopover between our home in the north west (UK) and favourite ski/walking resort in the French Alps. B&B gives excellent value for money - rooms are basic but have everything we need i.e. en-suite, powerful shower, comfortable but firm bed and always very clean.
There is the added bonus of an automatic check in for late night after reception hours for when your crossing is delayed. In some rooms the heating can be a little temperamental - usually too warm, but nothing that an open window won't solve.
Staff are very friendly and like to speak English. You can prepare for the day with a very reasonable breakfast (even bacon and egg, although I would prefer crispier bacon!) for the equivalent price of two coffees in the UK. We stay here two or three times a year and will continue to do so. Thank you B&B .

This is a budget hotel: the rooms are all on the same plan, with bed, TV, and ensuite shower/sink WC. But if you don't want frills, but do want a decent night's sleep in a clean and comfortable room, then the B&B could be for you.

You can turn up at any time (after a Eurotunnel delay, it was 2.30am this time) and check in automatically - just enter your booking number if you've booked on the internet.) Secure parking, and a very good value breakfast too.

And it's only a few minutes' drive from the Eurotunnel.

Quick tip - turn left and half a mile up the road is the Buffalo Grill, great for steaks - and also a cheap fuel station which has 24 hour pumps (credit card operated.)

B and B hotels are well known throughout France . The one at Coquelles is very well placed for the tunnel so it's ideal for catching an early shuttle to get back to the UK . Its close to Auchan with cheap diesel and booze to fill up before re-entering the UK and a Buffallo Grill ( which has free wi fi for when the hotel wifi fails to materialise) for a last taste of a decent steak frites. beds are comfortable , rooms very basic( we take our picnic chairs in) but shower excellent. Its even got British TV stations to make you feel at home!. Their breakfasts are excellent as long as you avoid the rather bizarre powdered eggs and use the scrappy bacon for a bacon sandwich. Its cheerful , its ( fairly) cheap and above all its in the right place. What more can you want?
