These reviews do not exaggerate. We have recently spent a week in this wonderful villa which is decorated in an eclectic bohemian style with attractive individual pieces. The rooms are quiet and very comfortable. The period house is beautiful and the views dramatic. The pool is very clean. Nick and Kate are wonderful hosts, very kind and helpful. There is a wealth of local and regional information available and the breakfasts are splendid. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Canigou room has the best terrace and views

Prades may not sound a bell to many people, but its location in the French Catalan Pyrenees is worth more than just a passage. Close to the mediterranean sea, the mountains of the Pyrenees, and Spain, it is a well located starting point. If you consider that as a discovery, you should stay in Villa Lafabreque, and you're in for another great surprise. Well hidden behind the walls in a rather quiet street, you will find a marvellous villa, with a view to the Canigou mountaintop ! If there is something like an oasis in the desert, then this is its equivalent at the foot of the pyrenees ! Your hosts Nick and Kate are among the hartiest people in the area, provide an extensive introduction. Everything you thought you were still missing in a bed and breakfast and the majority of hotels is taken care of here. It is obvious that they learn for experience and permanently improve the quality of their chambre d'hotes according to the reactions of guests. The decoration and charm of this place is tasteful to the say the least. No slamming doors at night, no cars buzzing by all night, and iin the morning a breakfast which has much more taste and choice than what you often get in the south of Europe. This is the little Brittish and highly appreciated touch in an otherwise beautiful French surrounding ! If there's a best of borh worlds, you've just found it.

Although our two weeks with Kate and Nick are business for my husband,my children and I always have 2 of the most relaxing weeks of the year here. Now famous for my slobbing about and inability to get down to breakfast on time,it is the perfect place to get away from the world. My 2 kids love it here and are always disappointed when we have to leave. Not only are Kate and Nick wonderful hosts but after many years returning here are also now good friends...most valued for their sonse of humour and unfailing cheerfulness!{Not to mention their lovely kids}.Wonderful pool and remarkably beautiful house...and great breakfasts where I could indulge my cheese habit! With so much to do in the area,I can only whole-heartedly recommend a stay here...I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Prades!Amelia Talichova and Family

We stayed with Nick and Kate for a week, what wonderful hosts, we did not wish for anything we stayed in the Canigou room with a terrace and a view of the mountains. The room was fantastic, the house was built in the 18th century and has all the period features, the rooms are very well equipped and the bed was very cosy. Nick and Kate made the holiday with information and maps to lend, free tea and coffee available all day and cold drinks and beers that you put on a tab and settle up at the end of your stay. Kate does an amazing spread at breakfast, the fort at villefrench is well worth a visit and also The little yellow train, Prades is a safe town to walk around in and we will be going back. Thanks Nick and Kate

Nothing is too much trouble for our wonderful hosts and we can't rave about our La Fab holidays enough. The accommodation is clean and tastefully decorated to make us feel 'special ' but' at home'. We alternate days lazing by the pool with more energetic ones climbing Mount Canigou , visiting the local markets and pottering about Prades, which is just a short walk from our Gite. Our 11 and 13 year old girls love it and always want to return. We have been ski-ing from here too and enjoyed a lovely Winter holiday in familiar surroundings An all round FABULOUS holiday destination - Thank you!

Room Tip: Gite Carlit is our favourite as there are 2 bathrooms and plenty of space for a family

We decided to return to France to this new area for us and thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Lafabregue. This manor house has a wonderful garden in the center of the village of Prades. We were able to walk to the town plaza where there is a complete regional market every Saturday and a local one on Tuesday. To our delight there is also a good natural foods market nearby.

The very hospitable hosts, Nick and Kate provide a very delicious and plentiful breakfast and are also very helpful. Nick was very kind in giving us a couple of rides before we picked up our own car. He also is very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with two hand drawn maps for a couple of the day hiking trips we made.

We stayed in a couple of the bedrooms. Our favorite was the Mt. Canigou room with its spacious outdoor terrace and panoramic view. We loved this place and look forward to returning.
