We ate here one evening and thought the pizza was amazing! The wines were not from Sancerre, but were Italian which was no surprise since the owner is Italian. The owner had a great personality and seemed to be the only one working the evening that we ate here. This restaurant is a little hidden; it is located right next to the entrance of the old tower on the edge of the village. The only thing that I found disappointing, was that there were no salads on the menu as well.

This was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. Freshly prepared, and cooked in a wood oven - something you just can't find in the UK. Seems a bit perverse to eat Italian in France perhaps, but this place is definitely worth a visit.

I ate here 3 times while in Sancerre for a month at the language school. The owner is a nice guy and just gets overwhelmed when he is busy. If you tell him you are not in a hurry all will be fine and the food is amazing. We tried several of his pizzas and his homemade chocolate mousse is out of this world!!

Stopped here for a coke and tea. When we went to pay, the owner asked for 6E. Thought it was a lot as it was a thimble size glass of coke and he claimed to no milk for the tea. Walked outside and on his menu it said coke 2.50 and tea 2.00. We didn't bother going back to argue over 1.50 as that is not the point. We will never return. We felt he took advantage of us being tourists and was ripping us off.

Our fourth time vacationing and studying French in Sancerre was in May--we ate at La Collina several times as usual, and were not disappointed. Authentic, delicious pizza at a very reasonable price (we spent a week in Rome after our visit to France and ate pizza as good, but none better). The owner/chef is proud of his pizza and other cooking, and rightly so. We loved the Del Re pizza (artichokes and ham), the seafood pizza, and the plainer pizzas which allow the texture and flavor of the crust to shine through. The location (at the very base of the town's single remaining medieval tower) is lovely, and I think the owner isn't grumpy so much as a bit reserved and a bit unsure of his English. One night I was there he very graciously called a taxi for a stranded tourist who spoke no French, listened to her tale of woe, and translated for her to the taxi driver to ensure she got back to her friends...Yes, as other reviewers have noted, he gets busy at times--feel free to go to the counter and tell him you need "l'addition" politely. We will be back next time, for the price and the quality of the food, the relaxed atmosphere--and the sincere niceness of the chef/owner/waiter.

Definitely use the Italian chili oil if you like your pizza spicy/hot, and watch him make the pizzas...
