We ate at a few restaurants while we were in Arromanches and this was the best of the three. The food was outstanding and the service was quite good. The dining room was a little loud and the noise was not helped by the presence of some overly energetic, unruly, and unsupervised children (the parents were more interested in quaffing their wine then managing their hellions.)
That aside, though, the atmosphere was pleasant and warm. We chose to order the "Decouverte Menu" (Discovery Menu) and enjoyed several innovative and well-constructed dishes. We both started with the Decouverte du Pappagall, featuring foie gras, smoked salmon, and smoked duck. All three were excellent. The smoked duck was especially flavorful and the foie gras was modest, but tasty.
We followed our starters with the duck in cider sauce with the potatoes dauphinoise. Both were excellent! Then we finished the evening off with dessert, which was okay. (That doesn't mean the desserts are bad. It just means we both made choices we ended up not particularly liking. But, that's the risk you take when you're adventurous and try something new!)
All-in-all, a good meal in a nice atmosphere. The owner came out and interacted with us, in terms of making recommendations and chatting. He was friendly and conversant in English, and he was clearly very proud of the food they create at this restaurant. That pride shone through in the menu and the quality of the meal we ate. If we're ever in Arromanches again, we would definitely eat here.
