“Great location and subject, but staff were poor”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

This is a really interesting part of the d day history, but I thought that it is poorly run and the staff didn't seem interested in helping. There were some other tour groups there and they only seemed interesting in helping them. We had to wait a long time to view the first as another language seemed to jump the queue. I also think that this is quite expensive compared to the other d day museums in Normandy, especially for what you get.

Cool models of the temporary port, showing how it worked. Helpful explanations by in-house guides. Mannequins wearing uniforms and gear of the various invasion forces.

“Well run, worth a visit”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

This museum focuses on the Mulberry harbor at Arromanches. The exhibits are well done, with uniforms and gear well-labeled and grouped by nationality and military branch. There is a guided tour which I did not take, but I did watch both the interactive slide show of the landing and the video presentation in the auditorium. Announcements were made for both, and listening devices were made available for various languages during the English-language video presentation.

I spent about 45 minutes here; a real buff might spend a couple of hours. It is obvious that the curators have worked hard to put together this first rate museum. As with any of the D-Day museums, reading up on the history of events beforehand makes the visit much more meaningful.

Loved seeing the restored landing craft, the air craft and the uniforms.
Needs a drop off area for easier access for disabled.

“Highly informative museum”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

In less than an hour can get you the whole story of the D-Day landings in 1944, when you are looking out on the beach where it all happend. This museum shows the great operation with some very informative models and text explanations. The guides are really good in telling all the details about the operation. The museum also offers film and slide shows and a little book shop indside the museum.
