“FANTASTIC, home from home”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

I came on my Norton with a bunch of blokes last year... then came back with 5 families, all our wives and 9 kids under the age of 7! We took over the whole place, at which everyone discovered the staggering welcome provided by Adrian and Karen- their hospitality is legendary. The kids loved exploring the courtyard, making stuff around the big table, reading the Biggle books, putting on 'shows' in the Bread Oven (you'll find out what this is...) and Karen's teas. Total security for the kids to sleep, play and explore made it a truly relaxing time for the mums, and as for the dads- an endless beer fridge, an encyclopedic library, a massive projector for an evening of Blues Brothers and James Bond and the whole Normandy D-Day experience on the doorstep was boys own stuff. We were fully and superbly catered for on two days and given the run of the kitchen to cook ourselves the other evenings- whilst taking sound advice from Karen on how to stuff aubergines and an awesome Lokschen pudding from leftover kids spaghetti. Having to indulge in pastries, croissants AND a top notch fry up each morning was very, very difficult... for a microsecond. Karen's breakfasts are just fabulous.

There's no better place for a bunch of families to head to France for a few days and relax- it's what the place was made for.

A truly memorable weekend, and a wonderful Easter for all the right reasons.

Adrian and Karen's was alive and buzzing and full of life- it's JUST what the place was built for.

Go!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The set up is rustic and absolutely charming, but the highlight was the evening conversations around the huge dining room table in the common room. It was unseasonably cold outside, so the wood stove was stoked up full to chase away all the chills. We all enjoyed a drink together and shared our adventures from the road and from home. The BnB is run by Brits, so it was also a welcome English speaking respite in the middle of our otherwise French speaking adventure.

Just back from our invasion of the Normandy Beach B&B. Five families - ten adults, nine kids (from 1.5yrs to 8yrs) for the long Easter weekend. What a brilliant place. Secure courtyard area for the kids to play / scoot / explore, huge dining room, bbq, interesting stuff everywhere, guest beer fridge (!) and the most amazingly welcoming and relaxed hosts I've ever met. Karen and Adrian couldn't have been more accommodating. Breakfasts were the stuff of legend. Dinner was provided for all for two nights and the kitchen thrown open for us to cook for the remainder of our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and ideal for our various families (with the kids falling in love with the Bread Oven room). We left relaxed, slightly fatter and promising to return!

Just returned from a cultural weekend exploring the Normandy beaches (in March in the snow!)
The room was comfortable, clean and warm. The atmosphere warm, friendly and the log burner fantastic. The breakfasat really sets you up for the day and the beer in the guest fridge helps you sleep at night. Hosts Adrian and Karen go out of their way to make sure you've got everything you need and tend to say "would you like" rather than "no you can't".

I have been here on a few biking trips and have loved it! I have left previous reviews for those trips.
This visit we have brought my Mum and Dad before they get too old for the trips to the WWII sights/ museums.
Well, the usual welcome was made by Adrian and Karen... Like catching up with old friends.
The rooms are homely, the breakfasts are cooked to perfection and fill you more than adequately for a days exploring.
If you are lucky enough to experience one of Karens evening meals, you will enjoy well cooked food that tastes better than any restaurant has been able to produce locally, balanced with the great company of our hosts!
The enthusiasm and warmth that Karen and Adrian offer their guests is second to none.
Anyone who stays here will enjoy it..... Or need their head examining!

My daughter and i got the train up from Paris to Caen and hired a car to look around Normandy and this B & B was great, Karen was a great host, did not see Adrien think he was in the UK. We stayed in the "Bread Room" lot's of character and Karen gave us some DVD's to watch, All the beach landing areas are close to here and we could not have aske for a better host. The little black cat was especially friendly and my daughter loved it.
Hey Karen sorry we packed your little hair dryer up in our stuff, we shipped it back from Paris so i'm sure you got it back safley. If you are looking for value for money and that friendly feeling well this is the place.

Room Tip: Bread room is good if you dont like stairs. Plenty of off street secure parking

Karen is an absolute star and made us feel extremely welcome with everything from a fridge full of beer at the end of each day's biking and a fantastic cooked breakfast each morning. As Brits the owners are a fantastic resource for local tips for us non-French speakers!
