Camping Municipal Arromanches-Les-Bains

I stayed here in sept 2012 with my partner and his parents, (they had the camper van and we stayed in the awning tent) the whole site and its toilets were always very clean, each pitch is a very good size, we visited every museum and each little town around it and is perfectly situated for a short drive to each one, the camp site is less than a 5 min walk into its little town of arromanches where there are some lovely restaurants, bars, shops and a clean beach where it still has some of the old landing bits and tanks left (and the 360' museum) defiantly be visiting again!

I wished we hadn't booked for in for two nights, in fact one was too much!
The noise from the road was horrendous and I'm not exaggerating here!
I barely slept, tractors all through the night, scooters, big motorbikes and cars all zooming past, cats yowling in the early hours!
On the positive side, the pitches were nicely laid out and reasonably flat. The facilities were basic and clean. Alas, there weren't any toilet seats but that's common all around Europe. However, toilet paper was provided.
Would we return? Not in my lifetime!

We stayed here in our camper. The setting is good, close to great cliff top walks, and on one of the D Day beaches. The toilet blocks are newish, spotless, and have both loo paper and soap, a real rarity in our experience. The Internet is good too, and there are two washing machines, a dryer, and an indoor place to wash up with hot water. There are plenty of places to eat in the village, and a bakery.

Room Tip: If you stay here, go for a horse trek just down the road. It was a great experience. The place is ad...

We were supposed to be travelling around Normandy/Brittany and ended up staying in Arromanche for most of our holiday. The site was basic and very quiet (just what we wanted). The showers and loos were kept very clean, never once did I find them grotty,(a mop/brush type of thing was outside the door in the showers to clean the floor after yourself and leave it clean for the next person), and always a supply of paper! The actual camping pitch was a good size plenty of room for our 4 man tent and car. We found the staff very accommodating and friendly. (It always helps if we try and be friendly too - we were on 'bonjour' terms with the owners/managers and the cleaners! There was a freezer in reception for ice blocks and I charged my phone there once (for no charge).
The only complaint I have is there isnt an actual dog walking area. Dogs are aloud on the site and are expected to be on leads at all times. Owners walked their dogs an vacated pitches which I didnt like even though they picked up after their dog.I thought this was a bit yuk - didnt like the thought that a dog had done its business where my tent was pitched.
We would certainly recommend the site and would stay there again

Spent a couple of nights here whilst visiting the invasion beaches and associated sights. Arromanches is in a good central position for this, and the campsite is only a few hundred metres from the town and seafront. The site has a decent amount of pitches, but is quite compact, great for being near the services block, but a noisy camper anywhere on the site you will hear. Its next to some tennis courts, so there can be noise from that as well. The site is nicely maintained, but the limited amount of toilets and showers means they got grotty easily, but not in a deeply dirty way. The staff weren't so helpful, verging on rude, talking to friends when they serve you. a 50euro cash deposit is needed for a card for the barrier. There was chaos when I arrived at the same time as several motorhomes, with the minimal space for parking to check in, not that much can be done to improve this, except maybe painting parking spaces on the road.
If the location and quality of site wasn't as good, it would have been only 2 stars, if staff improved their attitude then it would go up to 4

We came here to visit the invasion beaches and the site is excellently situated in the town only a few mins walk from a little shop, town centre, beach and museum. The site was clean and well maintained. The baker comes round in the morning in the Summer but otherwise it would be nice if there was a little shop or something once the one in town closes - the nearest supermarket appeared to be in Bayeux, 5 Km away! We also couldn't find ice anywhere and as we were in a tent we had no way to keep our beers and food cool in the cool box, so it would have been good if they provided something like this.
Arromanches is amazing. A lovely town with the remains of Mulberry harbour, clean beach, museum, a small selection of shops, restaurants and bars as well. It was a good base for exploring the other invasion beaches. We also visited Bayeux and Le Mont St Michel from here.
The staff were nice and we got our deposit back for the gate key with no problem even though we had to leave early due to car trouble. Toilets and showers were tidy and cleaned regularly. I didn't notice that our pitch was on a slope and it was huge, definitely enough for our 4 man tent and car. The pitches are separated by low hedges which is nice for privacy. Would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here, like most people, to visit the D day beaches. The campsite was well located. It has basic facilities that were clean. The staff on the campsite were generally helpful. Unfortunatley we had to leave earlier than expected because our son was unwell. On departure I was informed that we would receive our 45 Euro refund for leaving early in due course. I have chased this up for 1 year and have not received the refund. This was very disappointing particularly as I was informed on leaving that I would definitely get a refund and that this information had apparently come from the Mayor of the town himself.
