Bought Party Zone tickets - good food, great value, awesome time at the track. In addition to the races, the musical entertainment and planned events were great fun.

In July I arranged a trip to Colonial Downs for 48 members of a club I belong to. We had made this trip annually for the past 4 years and had always had a great time. This time there was a newly appointed maitre d for the area in which we were seated and his attitude was less than welcoming. In previous years, our group had always been seated by the window, but this time we were seated on an upper tier and told the window seats were reserved for another group. This would have been fine, but those seats sat unoccupied the entire time and when questioned about our ability to move to those seats, the maitre d' responded that we would just have to stay where we were. We enjoyed the races, but the empty seats were irritating. Despite several phone calls and a mailed letter to management at Colonial Downs to discuss this issue, there has been no response. So now we are irritated not only at the staff, but also at the management. It just seems that customer service is lacking. We hope that steps are taken before next year's season to correct this issue

This is one of the newest and nicest horseracing facilities around. Two beautiful turf (grass) tracks and a dirt track as well. The lower level is for the general public and includes many, many TV screens and seating for bettors. The real fun is to opt for one of the two upper levels (Jockey Club, Turf Club) where spectators/bettors are seated at tables, each with its own TV screen, in full view of the enormous track. If you are in the area during the thoroughbred season (June-July), or harness racing season (Sep-Oct), put this on your "must do" list.

We've been to several race tracks over the years, and this one ranks among the nicer ones. If you pay a little extra to be under cover (and in AC), it's a great way to enjoy a fun evening with friends. You can chat between races, bet (or not), and then celebrate or commiserate, depending on where your horses come in. We were lucky enough to get a paddock tour and a tram ride around the track, which was fun and even educational. That's the good news. The bad news is that the food--at least that served in the Jockey Club--is really awful. (My crab cake was all bread crumbs, the rice was a gummy mass, and the frozen vegetables were soggy and bland.) So eat before you go, order a couple drinks, and have a good time.

Wow....what a joke. Paid $5 for approx. 3 minutes worth of mediocre fireworks display. It appears as though they only launch the fireworks about 100' into the air so that if you are not inside of the facility you see nothing. Perhaps they don't realize that by not launching the fireworks high into the sky you don't get HUGE displays. You folks should step it up and put on an INCREDIBLE show. This is an awesome venue that is largely wasted. Colonial Downs would be an excellent place for small to medium venue concerts and/or stage shows but the fireworks display is a HUGE disappointment.
