We only spent one night at Villa Solitude, but we wished we could stay much longer. Built by a baron in 1838, the mansion has been completely upgraded, while retaining all of the most spectacular architectural components. Our room on the ground floor had superb parquet wood flooring and wood paneling. Even the 15' ceiling was carved wood! The bath was huge, with quality fixtures. Our room opened to a terrace that overlooked the city's iconic waterfall and the entire city as well. The room price included breakfast, free parking and free wifi. The location is a "10" and it's in walking distance of everything. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was both reasonably priced and excellent. The staff was wonderful, both cheerful and helpful in every way. It will remain on of the high points of our trip to Bad Gastein, and we rate it one of the best in Europe! Can't recommend it highly enough!!!

Room tip: Our ground floor room #2, had 2 single beds and a terrace overlooking the waterfall!

This charming pension lies in the former home of a count, who built it for his family in the late 19th century. We were lucky to get one of the rooms in the aisle, with windows in several directions and towards the waterfall of Bad Gastein.

The atmosphere is very personal. There is a living room on the main floor, working as the lobby, with a library of DVDs that you may borrow to watch in your room. A lovely tom cat, who loves to be pet, also comes with the interior.

The breakfast includes yoghurt, cereals, fruit cocktail or freshly grated apples, bread, cheese, sausage, and juice. The breakfast is served in the cellar, where the owners' wine bar and cuisine restaurant is located. Don't miss to spend at least one of your dinners here.

We highly recommend this hotel and would happily return again.

The Good:
We had a delightful 3 night stay at villa solitude. Very good overall experience. It's a hotel with B&B feel. Likely the best in Bad Gastein. Spacious rooms. Staff is superb, very hospitable. They leave you be. Your personal breakfast, great! Location with terrace views of the village and waterfall. Parking in front of the hotel. Top 5 restaurant of Bad Gastein on site. Spectacular views.

The Bad:
Horribly hard beds, we both woke up broken and tired every morning. No elevator, take the stairs with your bags. Wi-Fi is poor and not available in the rooms. The restaurant closes on Wednesday in summer. Food is not that good. Try Jagrhausl down the street for schnitzel! Avoid Gin & Ginger. Nothing happening in Bad Gastein in summer. No blame, but the waterfall IS noisy

Room tip: A room at ground or first floor (stairs, WiFi) A room with waterfall view?

We spent one night in transit to Slovenia in this spectacular guest house. The deck is to die for, hanging over the ledge with the raid river and waterfall some 100+ feet below. There is no need to look where to eat at night as the restaurant is 4+ stars as well. Would love to be there in the winter as it must be a winter wonderland. Fantastic, romantic awesome location and staff. Thanks for the memory.

Room tip: The Standard rooms are great no need to upgrade unless you really want to

Stayed only one night but everything was perfect. The room was excellent, very large with everything you would expect in a four star hotel! The Restaurant and Wine bar were an added bonus. We had a fantastic meal in the evening on the terrace overlooking the waterfall- very relaxing! Breakfast was just as good and all served to the table! If it wasn't so far away I would be back tomorrow!
