We stayed at Salzburger Hof in March 2011 with two little children. Perhaps it has been renovated (it is now a four star + hotel) and perhaps the manager has been fired, because I simply do not recognise the hotel we stayed in, in all those unhappy submissions here.
The rooms were clean and cleaned well daily. No issues regarding bottles or rude signs. No problem using credit cards or signing bills to your room. The staff were polite - the waiters adored our children - and the full board was perfect for hungry skiers. Good breakfast buffet for all sorts of appetites, four or five course dinners and a nice after ski buffet.
Yes, you may have to share your dinner table with strangers if you travel as a couple only, but that is because the hotel is full - and deservedly so.
When our flight was changed and we had a whole day to spend in Bad Gastein after checking out, we were able to lend a room to use for our baby girl free of charge.
In short, and quoting a famous Austrian: I vill be bak.
