We spent a week in January (2 adults, 2 YAs) at the Tannenberg, our 3rd stay at a Ski Miquel chalet. A very lively crowd (all ages) and welcoming, enthusiastic staff who mixed well with the guests. Excellent food, wine and afternoon teas; very comfortable rooms/beds and a good layout to the shared living areas made for a very sociable stay but also provided space for quiet reading etc. The skiing was good, mostly red runs so perhaps a bit limited for beginners, and all the areas we visited were quiet; the various areas require some short distance travel by taxi or bus. 5 to 10 minute walk from the chalet to the ski-hire shop and bottom of the main gondola; good ski/boot storage there as well so no trekking up the hill in ski boots (free if you hire equipment, worth the 20 euros if you don't). Excellent ski-guiding each day with coffee and lunch stops (table pre-booked).
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Chalet-Hotel Tannenburg combines traditional Austrial and informal affordable English hospitality. Positioned five minutes from the town's main gondolas and chairlifts, it provides Ski Miquel guests with luxurious rooms and a laid back atmosphere. After an invigorating day's ski guiding, it's the ideal environment in which to wind down. Our bedrooms are large and luxurious with ensuite bathrooms, comfy beds and soft down duvets. We've even considered the unique needs of the travelling skier; each room has plenty of hanging space and a large wardrobe for your extra bulky ski clothing so you won't be tripping over goggles and walking boots in the middle of the night. ... more less
