We went with a tour company called Mombotour, adjacent to the zocalo in Grenada. In the morning the summit was covered in clouds, but we went anyway. They picked us up at our room (near the zocalo) and took us up the mountain to the Cafe Las Flores coffee plantation. We did a zip line tour, had lunch and too much coffee, then did a 4 hour hike on a volcano trail called the 10,000 steps (or something about a bunch of steps). At the days end we rode back into Grenada with the guides where they dropped us at the grocery store. Our guide was passionate and very knowledgable naming all the flora, and fauna, as well as historical bits. We got all this for less than $160US for both of us.
We got lucky and the clouds blew away from the peaks when we were on top. The geologic activity was amazing when we could see through the vegetation. The coffee was delicious too! On the way back to town we noticed the summit had again fogged in.
