The Hotel Granada is located at the end of Calle La Calzada in Granada. This street is the main entertainment/dining street in Granada. You are within easy walking distance of many restaurants, beauty spas/salons, tour companies, historic churches, and the town square.
This was our first trip to Nicaragua, and we were pretty apprehensive. As the other reviewers have commented, about half of the hotel staff speak English (all of the desk clerks spoke English very well), and the servers and staff who don't speak English are very accommodating. The restaurant in the hotel is very good - the buffet breakfast is fresh and satisfying - but the dinners are stellar. The portions are generous - one entree I think called El Corozo or El Corazon is a pile of delicious grilled meat to feed a family. At the hotel and elsewhere, be prepared for vendors to approach you at your table if you are near the street with pottery, trinkets, cashews, and other food or items for sale. Bottles of water at the hotel bar are cheap by American standards.
Our room was clean and the AC and shower in our room were great. Unfortunately, the in-room safes were out of service (in the process of being replaced, I think), so we stored some valuables in the safe at the front desk without problem. We were not comfortable on the very firm mattresses, but a pretty minor complaint in the greater scheme of things.
The pool is beautiful and clean, though there is no poolside service. There appeared to be a bar near the pool, but it was not staffed or stocked.
We would not hesitate to return to Granada or the Hotel Granada.
