Rooms are clean and nice but for the price (comparatively in Granada) we were really expecting more. We were there over the holiday season, and the staff was SO friendly, but completely overwhelmed by guests - really couldn't handle to demand. The pool was way too crowded with day users. Breakfast was good. Really paying for the location and the room - other amenities are subpar.

Unfortunately, I'd have to say this hotel does not live up to what I would expect for the price (which for Nicaragua outside of Managua, is at the top end of the price scale).

The rooms are very nice, large and airy with very large bathrooms and they are quite quiet, which is nice. There is a restaurant attached, the food was ok but there certainly is better in Granada. The pool is large but I would not call it refreshing. It is a somewhat shallow pool and completely exposed to the sun so the water is the temperature of bath water. Not really what you want after a hot day in the sun.

I give it an average rating because "poor" just seems a little harsh. If I could, I'd give it 2.5 out 5, somewhere between average and poor. After reading the reviews I had higher expectations so perhaps that is why I was so disappointed.

First...the pool isnt just for hotel guests, anyone who can pay gets to use it. So that mean on the weekends its filled with noisy kids splashing all over the place and parents who do not care enough to watch them.

Second.... I ordered food at the pool. A sandwich and a burger. It took 2 hours to get the burger which came out burned to a crisp and cold. Horrible service. The free breakfast was edible. That's about it and it took the wait staff forever to refill the trays. The coffee was about the only thing decent.

Third... The area around the pool was dirty and messy...in the bar area there was garbage everywhere and the pool chairs were absolutely disgusting. Stained and smelly.

Fourth....there was literally only 2 cleaning ladies cleaning the rooms. So it took them forever to get around to our room. We had to track them down to get towels.

Fifth.... the room itself was DARK. Barely any lighting. one of the lamps didnt work and a bulb in the bathroom was out. The shower curtain was DIRTY and the tub itself leaked. The shower head sucked and the water dripped out. The WIFI was out in the entire hotel except for the lobby area. and the bedsheets consisted of a sheet with an ugly scratchy thin felt blanket on top with another sheet on top of that. Weird.

Aside from all of that, the only positive things were the area- very close to the park and all the restaurants and bars.... and staff were actually very nice and helpful and let us check out an hour later than normal.

The pool is reason alone to stay here. The staff was fine with us. Breakfast was pretty bad, looked bad, tasted bad and the few good things ran out early and we were left with nothing that looked edible other than fruit and bread... the bread ran out too! The pool is amazing, poolside service was excellent as well. Nice to shower with hot water!!! the Beds of the regular rooms were horrible!!!! and the difference to upgrade to a larger room was double the price so we tolerated the bad beds. The location is great with a short and safe walk to many nearby restaurants and bars

Pros - big room (we were upstairs - request this)
- great pool and garden area around the pool
- good location
- reasonable breakfast (included)

Cons - no hot water, NONE!
- horrendous customer service and attitudes towards the customer from the front desk.....after 9 hours without towels and after asking 2 previous times for towels, I went to the front desk and said: "could I please get towels for my room now?" and the answer, was an abrupt: "no!" That's it...no explanation, no reason, nothing.
- on another occasion, requested a taxi, and after 15 minutes waiting were told: "oh, yeah, our taxi is busy" and were offered no additional info or help or assistance or another taxi or nothing....the front desk staff were all too busy visiting with each other to begin to care!

Room Tip: request upstairs - they are bigger and tend to be away from the traffic.....rooms near the restauran...

I just returned from a one week stay at this hotel and am disappointed. I arrived tired at 11 pm and was taken to a junior suite on the second floor. After unpacking and relaxing with a beer, I realized that the bed had a bedspread but NO sheets. Also I noticed the bathtub/shower floor was damaged and appeared dirty. So after a long day of traveling, I found myself repacking and moving downstairs to a standard but mediocre room, but at least the bed had pillows and sheets. The bottom floor rooms standard (in the original corridor) are very noisy because of all the activity immediately outside (like cutting down trees at 8am six feet from the door), plus the smell of the daily insecticide is much more noticeable. For a hotel that is frequented by so many gringos, English is not spoken by much of the staff. Also, putting in a request for a wake-up notice is useless. Fortunately I had my alarm clock set on my cell phone to wake me up. Yes, they have the nicest swimming pool in all of Granada, but the hotel is seriously lacking in updates, maintenance and customer service. I will not stay there again. BTW- I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last 3 years, but not again.

Room Tip: If you can find an upstairs suite that is functional, that is your best bet. Downstairs rooms are no...

A beautiful hotel 2 minutes walk from the shores of the lake and 2 minutes from town. Nice and quiet but minutes away from lots of good restaurants. A lovely pool and the room was very clean and cool. Food was very good although the bar was not staffed very well.
