“It was OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

It was an OK experience. I stayed one night only. The building with its patio looks great, very relaxing. No luxury at all, but that is totally expected for the hostel price - no surprise. For 1 night I can't complain. The only thing I didn't like were the bunk beds, they are so tall! I felt like dying in case of falling of it during a nightmare - but was my choice to stay there, right?

We stayed in a private room which was small, but we could sleep well in it. Due to nice people we met on the way to Granada, we had a fun time.
There is a kitchen if lower standard. No restaurant or bar. But you can buy beer and have free coffee. We could hand wash in a special facility and dry our cloths there, which was a big plus! Giving your cloths to 'professional' cleaning supposes to reduce the amount of nice pieces you have.

I didnt look for bedbugs but also didnt got bitten. Maybe i overlooked new bites from all the bites I got at my last hostel in Ometepe :)
They defenitely left matresses in the sun, which is a method of killing them. But only in the matress. Most of them live in hidden parts of the room.

Don't stay here. Me and my friend slept in the beds for approx 2 hours when she woke up and found 4 bed bugs on her bed. So we both moved to the hammocks outside to sleep for the rest of the night. In the morning we were both covered in so many bites, we obviously moved hostel straight away and refused to pay for the night in the hammocks. At first the guy on the desk feebly attempted to deny it, but then gave in so quickly, it was so obvious they were aware of the bed bug problem but didn't care. Avoid.

Loved this hostel, was my first and my last stay in Nicaragua. Here I met so many different kinds of loveable people and characters and if you stay at least for a couple of nights, the place grows into you when the staff becomes more personal with you, remembers your name, asking you stuff and just being sociable. Especially if you try to learn and speak some spanish, they open up more and everything just becomes more interesting.

With two dormitorios and several private rooms there is always a good mixture of people there coming and going, and I sure had a great time staying there. It's cheap, architecturally, aesthetically inspiring(especially now after they have repainted the place recently) with some creative art hanging around and feels like a big collective with a minor luxurious 24 hour service.

Mind you though, this is a backpacker's place and if you are disgustingly posh and fancy and need everything to be squeeky clean you should go somewhere else, or rather: not travel at all and stay at home. This place has charm with it's dusty floors and alternative vibes(although much is depending on the people staying there by the time).

If you go to this place, search for a guy called Mauricio and talk to this guy. He works there quite a lot and is one hell of a cool bloke. I became friends with him, just by hanging around the place and he's a very helpful hombre. Took me to places and gave me advices just as a fellow human being. He's got more than a handful tours aswell that he does when people ask for it, I never got the chance to myself but I've been talking to a lot of people who actually did and all the various trips you can do with him sounds like well nice experiences with a trustworthy guide. He's got quite a lot of experience, doing years and years of guiding, touring and even interpretation sometimes for NGO's.

If you come here, have a open heart and feel the equanimity, because the two patios with some pure plants and great colonial style mosaique gives you a tranquil atmosphere hanging round the hammocks and tables. There is some good energy flowing around the place, nothing is perfect though so I am not trying to describe a utopia here. But for what it is, it's an excellent place.

Room Tip: Any of the private rooms are nice, couldn't say so much about the dormitorios - never took the c...

All the contact information found in the guide books and online are outdated. Apparently it used to be a bustling hostel/restaurant/bar, but it is only a hostel now. The female staff are more helpful and knowledgeable about Granada than the younger male staff. Bring a lock for your locker if you don't want stuff stolen, which is what happened to me. I notified management about it, who suspected it was their cleaning staff. They were proactive by making sure that someone from management was being vigilant when the cleaners were in the dorms cleaning.

Room Tip: The dorm on the left has a bathroom attached.

Dude at the desk was up all night long talking to his buddy and woke us up several times early in the morning. The facilities are terrible. Beds are crappy so are the bathrooms. Hopeless staff. No vibe at all. DON'T GO TO THIS HOSTEL!

I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and it was incredible good value. I stayed in one of the dorm rooms which was clean all the time. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Nobody ever tried to pressure some tours or anything on me. They have some computers you can use for free and of cours Wifi. There is also a kitchen and extra showers and toilets in the backyard. If you looking for something fancy this is not the right place, but for anybody else it is a perfect place to stay!
