This was the most charming, warm, friendly place. The staff worked with us to plan all of our travel plans. We had planned to stay 3 nights and ended up staying a week, the food was excellent, we ate there 6 times. The rooms were beautiful with an attention to detail. The beds were the best. The rooms are quiet and relaxing. The location of the hotel is close to everything. The price was very resonable and the value was great. We are coming back in January for a longer stay. The owner sisters, Nancy and Terry, former Peace Corps volunteers and world travelers were there to offer local insite. The staff all speak English and we got to know them. I can not tell you how magical this place is.

We picked Casa San Francisco over La Gran Francia and other decent-looking places, because it was listed as "high end" in Moon and Lonely Planet, while not featuring high end prices. After spending 3 nights there, however, I'm not sure it warrants a "high end" description. It's somewhat average, with small, dark, noisy rooms, a tiny pool, and staff that tended toward spacey. Though having a private balcony was sort of nice, our room had inadequate lighting (could not read our guidebooks in the room), was right next to the kitchen (which made it noisy), was without curtains on windows (which made sleep difficult), and did not have real blankets. Request a quieter room in the back. On 2 mornings we waited over 45 minutes for breakfast, stressing us out as we were scheduled to be picked up for various tours; the staff seemed confused and incapable of getting us fed. Other than that, the location was great (east side of town is much nicer than west side), the food was tasty, the room was generally clean ... it's just not a "high end" hotel, Moon Guide's rating notwithstanding ... adjust your expectations accordingly ...

We were two couples traveling together over Thanksgiving week. All of us loved this hotel. It is in an old hacienda on a quiet side street about 2 blocks from the main square. It is not large, has a nice, small pool and a great, small court yard with beautiful flowers, a fountain and birds. The toucans live in a cage, but were out roaming the courtyard restaurant most of the time. Also two large parakeets and a turtle. All of the creatures loved fruit.

The staff was very helpful. There was always someone at the desk who spoke English. The owners were on site every day.

The hotel arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport. His name is Gustavo. We liked him so much that we used him every day. His English is very limited.

One last major point, the food in the restaurant was excellent.

This was our first stop in Nicaragua. Our plane arrived in Managua in the middle of the night and Casa San Francisco arranged for us to have a driver pick us up. This was the perfect place for us to get acclimated to the climate and culture of Nicaragua. The staff and Terry (one of the owners) went out of their way to help us make any arrangements that we needed to make (cab drivers, tour guides, special locations for the day, nacatamales) and to answer any of our many questions. CSF was the perfect place to rest and recharge by the refreshing pool or with a cool drink or a delicious meal after an exciting day. Its location was ideal; close enough to walk to the city center, but far enough away that it was much quieter than city center.

We stayed in two rooms, Room 9 and Room 4. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and had warm showers, comfortable beds, and a powerful air conditioning. The courtyard gardens with the birds and turtles were always a relaxing setting for the breakfast each morning before setting out on that day's adventure. The internet access offerred to guests gratis was the best connection that we encountered whlie in Nicaragua.

Overall, we would highly recommend Casa San Francisco as the perfect place to spend while visiting Granada. Although the location and facilities were fantastic, the service and staff is what sets this hotel above and beyond the rest.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Granada. Thanks to many of the previous reviews I chose this lovely hotel & was not disappointed. I stayed in room #4, with a/c, tv, comfy bed and a private balcony. The staff is always on hand to help & offer advise, as is Terry one of the owners who has traveled the world and is very interesting to talk to to. The restaurant onsite is outstanding as well, with sodas, beers & water available all day long. The included breakfast is good & filling, I opted everyday for the typical Nica over the continental, it included eggs, toast & gallo pinto, plus plenty of coffee. The hotel itself is in a wonderful spot, very quiet but only a 2-3 block walk to the central plaza and park. I was also able to look into the room on the other side of the stairs from mine, room #1 is really nice as well with a four poster bed, a beautiful tiled bathroom and a private balcony.

I would highly recommend Casa San Francisco for a stay in Granada, you can't beat the location, prices and friendly staff.

I just got back from a four night stay with three friends. It was a perfect choice for an adventureous girls trip.
As soon as we walked in we felt at home and loved our surroundings. We booked two rooms with single beds and they were both very clean but what really makes this place is all of the lush green plants, the parrots and turtles, free internet service, but mostly the people.
Any requests we had and we had a lot being a group of four girls were met with smiles. Nothing was denied.
When we asked for a place to get our hair washed..they found a place. How about a massage? Two people were sent in.. A big pineapple for breakfast? Of course.. Carlos at the front desk is truly amazing and has a winning smile and a great personality. Terry the owner takes the time to chat and make sure everything is just right.
Don't miss eating at the restarant in the hotel. It's the best. It's so nice after being out exploring all day just to walk out and eat in such a relaxing setttng. We ate three of our four dinners there.
It's also great to be able to just walk up a few stairs to use the internet anytime you want. There is also a store just a few doors home that you can call home for just a few cordobas.

Casa San Francisco made my visit to Nicaragua. The driver they sent to pick me up at the ariport became a friend. Carlos, the manager, walked me through Granada to interview Spanish teachings schools, and became a friend, Octavio and his wife, Alma Rose, created beautiful meals, and became friends, and the owner, Terry Leary, and her friendly toucans, became friends! The atmosphere, the interesting, friendly guests, made my stay like home!
