Worth a walk to end of Main Street to see the Cathedral in the evening. It has a mystical appearance

Essentially the centerpiece of Granada. One of the most beautiful churches amongst several in the city.

The Virgin of the Immaculate Conception is the patron saint of Nicaragua, and honored in this stunning and beautiful Catholic church, one of six in the city of Granada. It is a lovely place to simply come in and sit and attempt to imagine all of the history that has surely taken place within its walls. I have often gotten a "feeling" while in these old Catholic churches (all much older than what we have in the U.S.) and this one was no exception.

This Cathedral is situated in the centre of town and dominates the main square. Very impressive from the outside, particularly at sunset - the light is great for photos. The inside is quite European in design and a lovely place to come sit/kneel and reflect for a few moments.

The Cathedral of Granada in Nicaragua (Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral) is a roman catholic church in neoclassical architectural style in the center of Granada (which is located alongside the Lake Nicaragua) and next to central park of the city (Park Colon).
Historically the first church was built in 1525, one year after the foundation of Granada (the first Spanish city in America) and after a lot of events (e.g. burned in 1578, second temple in1751, iron frame in 1916, etc.) the Iglesia Bonita took today’s shape from the year 1972.

Granada’s Cathedral (Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion) is a very beautiful church (both inside and outside, with nice paintings at the ceiling) and very big (3.615 m2) encompassing three naves and four chapels and dominates the skyline of the city (one of the most prominent building in the city).

Summing up I liked my visit at Granada’s Cathedral in Nicaragua and I think it is a Must visit attraction (also to attend a Mass) in the beautiful city of Granada and certainly I will visit it again if I will be in the area.
