We stayed in the hotel/mansion for 3 nights and enjoyed the museum every day. The history boards on the walls are really interesting. The smells are amazing. We had our 3 kids participate in the chocolate workshop and they had a blast. The staff was great with children. They roasted and hand ground the beans. Then made 2 different chocolate drinks and finally their own chocolate bar. Tons of value for the kids for a VERY low price. Their smiles and stories they will be telling friends and family are priceless.

It's more like a dusty shop that has a 10 minute history of chocolate "tour" - and because of the lack of quality in their products, it's hard to understand the attraction.

Thank you for visiting my "odd place"; it is unfortunate that you missed the parts about the cultivation and processing of cacao, the fabrication of chocolate, and our mini cacao plantation where visitors can actually see cacao trees and cacao pods growing on the trees. Fortunately for us, as TripAdvisor readers will note, your views are rather atypical.
Have a nice day.

This sounded very artificial and touristy to me at first, but it was so bloody hot while we were sightseeing, we needed to find a place to cool off. We signed our kids (ages 5 and 6) up for the chocolate making tour and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They basically learned how chocolate goes from being a cacao bean to becoming a chocolate bar. They roasted and shelled the beans and made a delicious drink that beats any cup of hot chocolate we have ever had (even Parisian and Belgian style). The guide whose name I do not recall really engaged the kids. I, personally, would not spend $17 for an adult to participate, but the kids' rate was reasonable for what is better suited to them anyway in my opinion.

My 82 year old mother was visiting me and we decided to take the tour as she had never seen a cocoa except in a Hershey's tin. My son, (7 years old) and his friend went with us for the tour.
From the onset, everyone was incredibly nice and accommodating (my mother has a bit of trouble standing for long periods of time) and made us feel very welcome.

We had a great time learning about the cacao tree, roasting beans and making chocolate drinks. The boys had a contest as to how fast each could turn beans into cocoa butter and we all were able to make specialty chocolates to take with us.

We loved it and my had the time of her life! Thank you!

Attended a chocolate workshop. Ismael was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. We roasted beans and ground them into a paste. Made 3 different drinks and a bar of chocolate. Well worth doing
