Anything chocolate is a plus and the chocoMuseo is a small, quaint place to learn about chocolate in Nicaragua. You can purchase an array of chocolate treats and an extended tour.

The museum/cafe was cozy and tranquil with a shop of delightful chocolate products and accessories. They do a $6 buffet breakfast and regular cafe stuff all day. My husband and I did a chocolate making workshop which was one of the best experiences we had in all of Central America. We had a great witty and knowledgeable tour guide that led us through the chocolate making process from growing cacao to fermenting, roasting, shelling, mashing and mixing the beans into different varieties of hot chocolate. We sampled 3 hot cocoas and each made our own uniquely flavored chocolate bar to keep. You get to do everything yourself and the guide was really helpful. This would be a great activity with kids, but is so fun, even for adults! Don't miss it! $17 per person

Thoroughly enjoyed my workshop & the history of cacoa @ the production of it was memorable . Moreover coming away with my own bar was an additional bonus. I shared it
With other visitors whom I hope had the opportunity to visit you to.

We really enjoyed this tour - a pleasant surprise for us as we usually choose outdoor pursuits - but then who can resist the prospect of chocolate. You work through the whole process (see photos) and get a full history of chocolate in English from cocoa bean currency to cocoa drinks recipes. This is a museum not a factory tour - there is a fee for the tour but no expectation that you will spend money in the shop at the end - not at all commercialised!

Located inside an old colonial building, the museum is free to enter and offers all kinds of displays (and products) to entice chocoholics.
