For the first time in years of international travel, I'd had issues with bedbugs at my last hostel in Leon and was very wary about it happening again. Two other hostels on this same street (both of which are in the guidebook) had been recently reviewed as having them, so I was really glad to have been referred to La Casita by another traveler. The beds here are brand new and very comfortable. The lower bunk dorm beds are full-size rather than twin-size and that's a nice change, too.
There's a sweet little courtyard that smells fragrantly of the guavas that get dropped from the trees regularly (yay, free snacks! haha). The kitchen is pretty well stocked for the traveler who wants to do her own cooking. Staff is very pleasant, friendly, and helpful.
The downsides are that the dorm can be a bit warm, depending on which bed you're in, even with all the fans going. Also, one of the neighbors would frequently set off fireworks which were a bit jarring and startling (never during the night, though).
On the plus side, everything I've already mentioned, plus it was only $5/night and was very conveniently located less than three blocks from Parque Central.
In the three days since I've left Granada, I've recommended La Casita to at least as many people!
