“Islets of Granada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2012

This was recommended by the staff at Hotel Bocona. The rates for the boat tours of the islands are by the boat, not by the person and the staff at the hotel helped us by finding some other travelers to share the cost which really was going out of their way to help us.

“Good way to beat the heat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2012

Two hour private tour by motorboat with an English speaking guide.Very laid back puttering between Isletas checking out the homes of many rich folk who seem to own islands here.Saw some wild life and a few monkeys, afternoon well spent, and good to get out of the heat

“Beautiful landscape but beware of swimming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2012

Very beautiful archipielago of 300 plus islets that had it been duly protected as a natural reserve, it would be today one of the world's top ecosystems. Sadly, it did not happen, and although it is a very pleasant boat ride, do not expect to find many places unspoiled by the intrusion of modern comfort, ie: swimming pools, tennis courts, satellite dishes, landscaped gardens, etc. Sometimes contrasting with the shacks of the few poor nicaraguans tjat are lucky enough to live there. The waters of the northen shores of lake Nicaragua are POLLUTED by sewage runoff from Granada and run-off drainage from highly poluted lake Managua. So, leave that bathing suit at your hotel and limit yourself to swimming pools while visiting Granada. A great family type of excursion but somewhat of a let down for the ecologically minded.

Liked everything. Tour guide spoke excellent english and was very learned in both the isletas, the many bird and aquatic species along with owners of islands.
