“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed May 8, 2011

Walking into Casa Silas was like walking into a little piece of heaven in Granada. Rob has created a comfortable, friendly, clean environment in his Casa and having Silas (his fearless dog and the only one to be walked on a leash in Granada) is a wonderful addition. The breakfasts are delicious, the garden is relaxing, and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious. Rob was a wonderful host and took us on a great day trip to Mombachu, Los Pueblos Blancos, and El Mirador above Lake Apoyo.

Casa Silas is a couple minute walk from the main square making the location very peaceful. I highly reccommend a stay with Rob at Casa Silas!

We turned up to Casa Silas without a booking and unfortunately found it full, but liked what we saw so much that we changed our itinerary so that we could stay there later in the week. Rob (and his beautiful and ultra friendly dog Silas) were fantastic hosts, sharing their home and Granada with us. Casa Silas is away from the main tourist drag but close to all the sites. It´s beautifully decorated with fantastic paintings by Rob on the walls, spotless and the two spacious bedrooms have dressing areas and large bathrooms. Loved waking to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, followed by a refreshing dip in the courtyard pool and a HUGE breakfast almost worth a separate review in itself. Hope to find an excuse to return to Granada to stay there again.

As soon as we entered, we were made to feel at home. Rob is an excellent host - willing to take you on any number of adventures. Taking a chicken bus is a real experience not to be missed. We would not have gone on the chicken bus by ourselves - we speak hardly any Spanish and would have gotten horribly lost (although getting lost in Nicaragua wouldn't be the worse thing in the world). Rob took us on an early morning hike to Posintepe with an awesome vantage point of the town and then back through town.

Rob is a wealth of information for where to eat, where to go and how to get there, no matter your budget.

After a long day of hiking and sightseeing in the heat of the day, there is no more perfect way to end the day than to take a dip in the pool to cool off and sit with a rum and discuss the day's adventures with Rob and fellow travelers.

The breakfasts are an amazing and delicious way to fuel your day that includes the freshest of Nicaraguan fruit, eggs, toast and smoothies. Delish!
Loved our time in Granada - safe, comfortable and so welcoming!!!

We actually visited Casa Silas in April of 2009. It had just opened and we were very lucky to have found it. Surprisingly, much of our trip to Nicaragua was made memorable for the hotels we stayed in, this being one of them.

It is smack dab in the middle of Granada, the rooms are spotlessly clean and pretty, the value unbeatable and the host very hospitable. The swimming pool fits perfectly in the garden and with the blistering heat of Granada, this addition couldn't have been better after long walks through the city.

It is also the perfect environment for a 6 year old who spent much her time playing with Silas! And her supposed sighting of the elusive turtle sticks in her mind to this day.

When I was researching the options on where to stay in Granada, I wanted a place where my mother would be comfortable, relaxed, a place where she would feel "at home" while on vacation. We found it at Casa Silas B&B. Rob is a wonderful host who makes guests feel like friends who have come for a visit. Rob makes himself available to show guests around the area, he accompanied us to the Pueblos Blancos and a few other places. Part of what makes Rob a wonderful hosts is that he is friendly and welcoming and at the same time he gives guests space and privacy.

We really liked the house. It's quiet, cozy, and a little artsy. Rooms have a comfortable bed and large bathroom with a luxurious shower. When the bedroom windows are open during the day you can hear the water splashing in the fountain, very relaxing. We really liked that throughout the house there are murals that were painted by Rob himself. The breakfasts served at Casa Silas are fantastic. Silas, the four legged host is a sweetheart. He's a funny, happy dog that adds to the homey feel of this wonderful B&B.

Rob really does share his home with guests. On a couple of occasions he put on movies at my mother's request and watched them with us while we all shared pizza. What can I say, we had planned on spending 6 nights and spent a total of 9 nights.

We only stayed for one night on our recent trip to Grenada but would love to go back in the future. The place itself is well-located, beautiful and immaculate! The room was large, clean, and very nicely done (plus the hot water is a plus!) The pool is great and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. But Rob and his hospitality are really what make the place so unique - he helped us out tremendously while we waited for a friend who was late in meeting us and bent over backwards to help us with various issues before we left the country (it was our last night of our trip). He was wonderful (and we are a big fan of Silas too!) Thanks again for everything Rob!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Casa Silas in March, 2011. The calm atmosphere of the place really helped make it a relaxing vacation for the two of us. And the pool was a great refuge during those hot Granada afternoons.

The owner, Rob, provides top notch service. By the time we left I felt like we were old friends. He took us on a hike one morning, arranged for multiple cab rides, recommended some great places for dinner, and had some great discussion about Nicaraguan politics with me.

The B&B itself is quite and comfortable. Our room was always clean, and it actually stayed pretty cool during the day, which means it was perfect not only for afternoon naps, but also for sleeping at night. The breakfast was awesome as well; a great local taste prepared by a local woman.

Overall I would definitely recommend staying here for a few nights and I hope we get the chance to visit again someday soon.
