“Great location, great hotel, great service”
Reviewed June 29, 2010

We stayed at Hotel Con Corazon twice during our 10 day stay in Nicaragua and it was excellent both times. The rooms are great looking out onto the very clean swimming pool. Breakfast each morning was fantastic and you could choose to eat there in the evening for a set meal which after weeks of greasy restaurant offerings was like being at home. For those that are interested the hotel offers free access to the local gym. We also have to give the place full marks for allowing us to hang around all day until 1am after we checked out at midday as we waited for our bus from Granada to Guatemala City, without that we would have been wandering the streets. This is the place to stay in Granada.

We loved our stay at Corazon and would highly recommend it to others staying in Granada. It's a bit pricey, though totally worth it. Lovely and helpful staff, immaculate rooms, beautiful pool - and the profits supports loads of great, local educational projects. Only recommendation to staff would be to stay on top of the little things like dishes and ashtrays ... there were a few times when a set of breakfast dishes would be left out for several hours unattended. There are loads of critters (namely flies) around Nicaragua and dirty dishes are a magnet for them!

Beautiful place and we look forward to returning in the very near future!

This is a unique and lovely place to stay in Granada. It’s slightly off the beaten track (3 blocks north of the centre) but right in the middle of daily life. You walk out straight into people going about their normal daily business. It’s near the local high school, and we were lucky to see student processions and to get tangled in the school run one day coming back from the centro historico.
Con Corazon has beautiful, comfortable rooms (lovely photo displays) and pleasant décor. Excellent shower room. We stayed downstairs and were able to walk out almost straight into the very welcome plunge pool (great after a day’s wandering the streets of the centro historico or going on a tour outside Granada). It has been renovated and modernised to a very high standard, and yet still feels and looks authentically part of old Granada. In the inner courtyards, there are lovely plants and places to sit under the portales. A cooling breeze runs through.
Breakfast is superb, and really lunch shouldn’t be necessary (although we usually had that as well) after such a feast. Cereals, fruit, eggs, fresh bread. We also had a good evening meal there too – you’ll need to book earlier in the day if you want to try it. It’s a set menu. There’s a bar too, which looks out onto the street. A nice little hideaway.
The staff are wonderful – smiling, helpful and accommodating. Their presence brightens the place immeasurably. Front desk staff are efficient and informative too. And the Dutch manager is engaged in everything, and very much part of the team.
Con Corazon has a buzzy atmosphere during the afternoons and early evenings when classes are held in the inner courtyard area and their seminar room. This is a hotel with a difference, engaged in education projects; profits from the enterprise go to these projects and volunteers from several countries are here to assist.
Tours: Con Corazon also offers tours with a difference. We went to the ‘pueblos blancos’ (rural towns outside Granda) and Laguna de Apoyo one day, and to the Isletas on Lake Nicaragua on another. These tours enable you to meet people in their own homes and to see them at work, too, as well as to see the countryside close-up. In the pueblos blancos we visited a working pottery, a bakery (we were invited to join in) and a beautiful plant nursery integrated into the local forest. Don’t expect a luxury tour bus or launch – you’ll probably go on a ‘chicken bus’ or local boat: it’s a central part of the experience. Our English-speaking guide (Suyen Auxiliadora) on these tours was brilliant – you also get to know a bit more about Nicaraguan humour as well as insights into the way of life. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know people a little.
It’s hard to imagine a better place to stay in Granada. It really lives up to its name in every way, and some more.

We really enjoyed the clean room, delicious breakfast which is included, the calm ambiance, and the service. The hotel helped us with finding cheap cabs which is a huge PLUS!

This hotel should get everyone's support. It is a hotel that hires Nicaraquans to train in the hotel management business. The workers are so eager and honest and sincere. I truly had a wonderful stay because the staff was so helpful. Photographic art taken by children is displayed on the walls for sale. Everything is a positive attempt to help the country.

Recently spent a long weekend in the Granada area. I loved coming "home" to Hotel con Corazon at the end of a busy day. This nonprofit hotel cares about people. This is evidenced not only by the friendly way in which the staff meets every need, but also by the way the hotel is contributing to the educational needs of the children of Granada. I would go back in a heartbeat. WONDERFUL!
