“Very Relaxing”
Reviewed February 10, 2010

I spent 6 days here with my family and had a very relaxing time. I originally booked a "sea view" room, but changed after the first night to a larger, more comfortable garden view room. The garden view rooms seem to be a little newer and are larger, though there isn't much of a view of the sea. The room we had had a nice large bed, a small sofa, a small desk and chair and a TV. There was also a small safe with a small refrigerator. The bathroom was spacious and modern. The maids did a great job of cleaning the room each day.

The restaurant overlooks the water and offers a great view of the sunset. The restaurant is decent, though there are quite a few dogs that hang around the area. Breakfast was quite typical..nothing fancy, but decent.

The pool area was quite nice and has a smaller, shallow pool that is great for kids. The garden around the bungalows is well maintained and very nice. It really adds to the atmosphere.

The beach area during low tide is quite rocky. This is probably the only negative thing I have to say about this place. You have to be quite careful where you walk and it makes swimming a bit difficult. There were several people who had minor cuts on their feet from the rocks. The beach about half a kilometer south is much more sandier.

Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay here.

Quiet location on beach. Good breakfast and resaturant.
A bit overpriced family rooms. Beach rocky during tides.

We found this place on a whim as we wanted to stay near the beach, we stayed in one of their budget bungalows with a fan which was around 1100 a night including breakfast. The bungalow was clean and roomy and the fan was enough - moz net included which was also a bonus. All the bungalows are set back from the beach in the gardens though there are a few on the beach front.
There is a pool in the resort which we chilled at most days and then sat by the beach for the later part of the afternoon - great place to watch the sunset. Breakfast was a full on buffet - deeelish!
The restaurant was also very good - fish fillet with ginger and spring onion still remains strong in my memory! There were a few families around but mainly couples. Def worth a visit!

This hotel has bungalows right by the sea, the views are beautiful. The bungalows themselves are very clean and well decorated and good value for money. The restaurant also does very good food and again is in a very good situation - you can look out to sea as you eat! The swimming pool was also very good.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the clean new bathrooms. At a price of $48 a night for a room for 2 during the rainy season, it seems a bit steep. The beds and towels are very clean.

No major complaints except that the staff let stray dogs have the run of the place. So if you don't like dogs, stay away. We love dogs, but one was a bit gnarly and it loves getting really close to you.

The restaurant is ok, we ended up paying Bangkok restaurant prices for very run-of-the-mill food. Maybe that's the price we have to pay to be in an island.

Kai Bae is a lovely and quiet beach, but we couldn't walk pass a few feet before our toes kept hitting the rocks in the shallow water -- we ended up walking all the way to the southend of Kai Bae in order to swim out.

We stayed for three nights at the KB Resort in June during the so-called green season. While we had bad luck with the weather, we were so lucky to have found this beautiful resort.

The location of the Kai Bae beach is a bit remote, especially during off-season. The "town" next to the road above the KB only consists of a couple of rather unattractive tourist restaurants/bars, tailor shops and the obligatory 7eleven shop. So if you are looking for a proper nightlife and a lively beach you might have to move to the white sand beach next-door.

But if you are looking for some a romantic and privacy as we did, the KB resort is the perfect place for you! Located in a beautiful garden right at the beach, quite and peaceful under the palms of Kai Bae.

Our beachfront villa (1800 baht per night incl. breakfast) was equipped with a comfy bed, aircon, safe and a television. It might not be brandnew (the resort must have recently celebrated its 10th anniversary), but the furniture was well-kept and clean. the bathroom shower had enough water pressure and the boiler would work well. Sitting on our bed or our private balcony, the view on the quiet Kai Bae beach was simply breathtaking! It's just that bit of paradise you came looking for to Thailand.

We didn't bother to check the (overpriced) tourist restaurants up at the street and ate all our meals at the KB restaurant instead. During high season this has to be a busier place, but in june it usually was only a couple of guest and half a dozen of waiters. The food was very good, with a large choice and reasonable prices, and the restaurant again had a great view onto the sea.

If it it was not for the bad weather on Koh Chang in June, we would have definitely stayed longer at the KB resort. We would love to come back!

Liked best: The view
Liked least: Stray dogs - but then again, they seem to be normal all over Ko Chang

We planned to stay for 4 night in the KB Resort and when we got there we liked it so much we prolonged for one night which was no problem. Some friends of us which were also in Koh Chang also changed to the KB Resort because for this amazing price there is no better facility around.
The bungalow from the outside doesn't look very special but on the inside it's very cozy and it also has a nice little porch (which you can only use with an anti-mosquito candle). The shower was very good and the bed comfy! It has a very nice pool area with massage service (thai massage for about 300bht). Breakfast is included and the buffet is very nice and they make eggs for you! The hotel area is pretty big and right at the beach. At low tide you can walk very far out and the sunsets are amazing! However there are nicer beaches up north but KB's beach spot is also wonderful!
Staff are very friendly and laundry service worked fine! Food in the hotel's restaurant is great and fancy and therefore a bit more expensive . Further up north however you can find really small and cute restaurants (tip: coconut) where you get great food for no money! Best thing is to rent a scooter. We were also a bit scared about that but traffic is really not that bad on the island and it went fine (first time for me to ever ride a scooter).
