Hello travellers! KB Beach is really a nice place for families and couples! Perfect situated right on the beach and very near shops and restaurants. The stuff are nice and helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day. We both stayed in a family room and in a luxury airconvlla and of course aircon is the best. The very cheap villa is for them who don´t ask for much space or don´t care if you hear insects in the night. A bit more exciting.. The breakfast is very good, buffe´sitting looking at the sea. Some sleepy dogs walking around, no need to be scared. All the bungalows are in a nice garden with lovely shadows and it has also a refreshing pool when that fits you better. We really enjoy our stay here and we´ll love to come back!!

I have to admit this has to be one of the most wonderful resorts I've stayed at ever. Very simple and unassuming, but scores high on satisfaction. The resort located on Kai Baie Beach in Koch Chang is about a 20-30 minute drive once you arrive on the ferry across the mainland from Trat. Don't be fooled by it's rather simple and unassuming entrance - a shack kind of reception. Once you enter you do so into a different and serene world.

The accommodation is mostly all villa style. The villas are beach access, sea view and poolside. there are a few villas towards the interior as well, includes both airconditioned as well as fan style accommodation. The rooms are basic with all necessary amenities, a tv, minibar etc. However the beauty of the resort lies on the beach, which is beautiful and clean. The resort staff are nice people, eager to make you comfortable and please and they do a darned good job of it.

There's just one restaurant, serving primarily Thai cuisine, but there's other simple stuff like sandwiches and pastas as well. The food is par excellence. specially the Thai stuff. The restaurant spills over onto an outdoor deck by the beach - sit here by the sunset and have a drink, order your fresh catch grilled to perfection or a meal from their a la carte menu. There is NO room service.

What also strikes about this place is the clientele it attracts is relatively yuppie backpacker free. More of the family style, peaceful traveller, old and young couples looking to relax.

Most certainly high on recommendation for a stay, as long as you are not highly strung up on luxury.

Room tip: If the sea and sand are your thing, most definitely go for the beach villas which have direct beach access in literally 10 steps.

Value is good for beach a resort of this quality. I stayed in a lovely, cheery yellow bungalow from which I could see the beach and the Gulf of Thailand. My bungalow had a nice covered deck, which I used to hang clothes for drying. Inside the bungalow was pleasantly decorated, clean, spacious, and had AC, a security box, a flat screen TV, but no wifi. There is an internet cafe across the street from the entrance to the resort. Free breakfast was good. Other meals at the restaurant were good, too. The young staff at the hotel were so pleasant and lovely. I love soaking everyday in the Gulf of Thailand. The beach is a bit narrow, and the sand a bit clay like, but it was fine for getting my tropical island fix. Plenty of day trips to do, if you want to. I recommend elephant trekking. This resort is currently expanding -- they are building a hotel style structure near the restaurant. After this project is completed, I'm not sure that this place will maintain its pleasant character.

Room tip: Mosquitos can be bad at night, so take some repellent with you.

I have been here before and we came back because it is value for money. Plus sides are the friendly staff, rooms cleaned everyday with clean linen etc, very nice location literally on the beach, food is okay and the venue is very chilled out in the evening, parking area next to the reception. Down side as mentioned in other reviews is the building work so ask for accommodation away from this area. My hut was about 25 pounds a night, which seems pricey but we decided to stay there for 8 days instead of four. The outside area of KB is waht you expect in Thailand such as restaurants and make shift restaurants, stalls and little bars. Not so evident is the sleaze so a good place for families. Koh Chang is a lovely place so got to lonely Beach and Klong Proa beach. Get a moped for 200 baht a day. Petrol is 40-50 Baht a litre. Have plenty of deet at hand as the mosquitoes have a field day.

Room tip: away from the building work. Get a AC as it gets very hot at night and fans are noisy but still ok.

Like other reviewers, immediately upon our arrival, we questioned the wisdom of relying on information from the internet for booking this resort. Neither the reception area, located on the main road, nor the adjacent parking lot give the first time visitor a reassuring feeling. Fortunately, the closer we got to the beach, the nicer the resort became.

The bungalows are staggered in several rows affording most, if not all, a glimpse of the beach. Our single bedroom bungalow on the second row from the beach, contained standard, modest furnishings with a large bed (actually two twin beds pushed together), refrigerator, small safe, etc. We found the pillows a little too thick but, otherwise, the bed was comfortable The AC was welcome but not overpowering, the bathroom seemed as though it was recently refurbished, and the sliding glass doors which covered the entire front wall of the bungalow allowed a nice view of the beach and sunset. There was a bit of noise from a bar on the beach north of KB which was noticeable outside our bungalow but not inside. We found the bungalows comfortable and very satisfactory overall.

The beach is quite nice - sandy, clear water, with large palm trees at the edge of the sand. Shallow water extends far out into the gulf. The weekend we were there, it never seemed crowded.

The restaurant is located just off the beach on the north side of the property. It seems relatively new and well maintained with 3 seating areas, including 1 outside. We enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts there. The food and drinks are varied and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was somewhat limited but adequate.

A new addition immediately adjacent to the restaurant is under construction and will be for many months to come. Construction work didn't start until ~8 a.m. and ended before sundown so we were not disturbed by the noise.

The swimming pool is toward the rear of the property, well back from the beach. It is attractive but not particularly large. Once the addition is complete, it may be too small for the number of guests.

After the addition is complete, perhaps they will upgrade the entrance area. If the reception area and entrance were as nice as the rest of the property, I would give the resort a higher rating.

Room tip: Bungalows on the first and second row from the beach have nice views. Bungalows on the south side of the property are farther from the construction and bar.
