We're currently staying at the Panviman Koh Chang and are very happy with both the hotel and the service.
The resort has a gentile 'Thai' style about it and is set in nicely landscaped grounds, on a lovely beach. There is an intimate feel, with an air of tranquility and, although the hotel is fairly busy, there is never a 'crowded' feeling, even at breakfast. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with the 'old school' service often found only in well established hotels. Nonetheless, everything still seems to run like clockwork. One gets the impression this is a well oiled machine but personal service is still the keynote.
When we arrived the reception team were very welcoming, helpful and informative.
The rooms are very attractively furnished, well equipped and comfortable, with a large flat screen TV. The cable TV has two or three movie channels in English and a couple of cartoon channels for the kids, as well as Thai and other International offerings. One of the 'features' is a very big mosaic tiled bath which our son loved. Also, it must be said that the separate shower is powerful and spacious, with precise control of the hot and cold flow - sounds picky but I have stayed in many hotels where showering was an ordeal, just trying to maintain a temperature between cold and scalding! I do think that it would be a very useful addition to the bedroom facilities if the hotel provided an iron and ironing board. The maid service is excellent. the hotel uses quality toiletries which are never left to run out. Every time we've gone to breakfast the room is 'made up' when we get back.
We found both the Thai and International food of a good standard and there is a decent selection at the Breakfast Buffet.
There is a 'Buy one get one free Happy Hour' at 'Rocky Bar' between 5 and 7 p.m and the current House Red wine is very drinkable and available by the glass, carafe or bottle; I haven't tried the white wine.
There are three pools, a large one for all guests adjoining the beach and two smaller versions that are reserved for guests staying in the adjacent rooms.
Overall, the Panviman Koh Change offers a genuinely relaxing experience and a feeling of being spoiled at reasonable prices. We would heartily recommend this resort and will definitely return.
