“Perfect for our needs.”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

This was exactly what we wanted from a beach to stay at; a bungalow ten seconds walk from the beach. it is a narrow sand beach at high tide and not a party beach, as others have commented. It is quite long, we walked along it a few times and we actually never got to the far end. Not as overpopulated as White Sands but still with quite a few people who are staying in the resorts right on the beach. Mostly Russian tourists, rather to my bemusement.

I do not understand the people calling it rocky though, I didn't see many rocks at all, there were a few strips of dead coral, that might be what they meant, but i didn't mind them as the give a low tide beach more interesting ecology than straight sand and it also gave me a bit of a snorkel on the days we were too lazy to go out to one of the better snorkelling spots.

Porn's bar further up the beach is the perfect place to watch the sun set, sip a pinacolada and then order a yummy mean while reclining on cushions on the floor, or possibly in one of the hammocks.

“Worth a single visit”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

The main virtue of this beach is that it is uncrowded. It cannot really compare with the West coast's famous other beaches, such as White Sands and Khlong Prao. At high tide the strip of beach is very narrow; at low tide you have to walk over coral pieces to reach the water. The beach is located just south of the southerly end of Khlong Prao beach and can be reached from there by taxi for 50B per passenger. The Coral Resort, just a few hundred yards from the north end of Kai Bae beach offers the chance of a cool beer and a good view of the sunset.

“Very Narrow Rocky Beach”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

We stayed in Kai Bae for 15 nights & were very happy with the hotel but thanks to previous reviews on Trip Advisor, we knew what to expect with the beach. At high tide it is to narrow to walk along. Also there is a lot of seaweed & rocks, which makes entering the sea very difficult. We where in Khao Lak last year & Kai Bae Beach is not patch on that beach. However we were happy to sunbathe around the pool, which was right on the beach.

“watch the baby elephants swim in the sea”

Nice and quiet, no sun beds here but just take a towel and stretch out on the sand. Reasonably good for swimming

“Noisy street, small beach”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

The street is noisy but does have a few decent restaurants. Try Mak Mak, Fitou, Mojito and o2. Stay on the beach, we liked Nuang Nual.
